Chapter 12. Best Friend’s Alpha Wolf Match
On Zelda’s phone screen, Rishima saw an Alpha wolf in a gray suit, with handsome features and gentle, elegant eyes, sitting on a white sofa. Even through the screen, she could tell that this wolf was truly charming and mature.
There was no doubt–he was an outstanding Alpha wolf. That alone made his value soar.
Zelda eagerly introduced him, “He went to high school with me, and he’s got a great temperament. He’s been abroad for years, but his pack called him back two years ago to take over the pack business. He’s now running the empire’s largest entertainment company. Rishima, do you know? Countless famous stars want to get close to him but can’t!”
Rishima glanced at the screen, then looked at Zelda’s expectant face, and said, “Zelda, you look just like a matchmaker right now.”
Zelda proudly replied, “If you and he can become a couple, I’ll carry a banner and a loudspeaker to spread the news all over the empire.”
Rishima:
Zelda enthusiastically sent Rishima the contact information for this wolf, and vice versa.
Seeing that Rishima wasn’t interested, Zelda promptly walked into the living room, grabbed Rishima’s phone, and forced her to unlock it with her fingerprint.
Rishima felt utterly helpless.
She knew Zelda just wanted her to find a good wolf to mate, but didn’t Zelda realize she wasn’t a match for someone like him?
He was wealthy, handsome, and an Alpha wolf. Rishima really couldn’t understand why Zelda thought he would accept an ordinary, infertile female wolf like her.
Oh well, Rishima shook her head, letting Zelda do as she pleased. After all, that Alpha wolf would reject her anyway.
Rishima hadn’t told any wolf about her pregnancy, not even her best friend Zelda.
She feared that Zelda might inadvertently reveal the secret to Zvonimir, and then she would no longer be able to protect her wolf cubs from the dominance of the Silverfang pack.
When Rishima went to Ashcroft Group to submit her resignation, Daryl Lopez, Zvonimir’s cousin, had no intention of keeping her. In fact, he quickly approved her resignation.
Daryl, being a nephew of Mrs. Ashcroft–Zvonimir’s mother–held great authority in the company’s design department. He had despised Rishima for a long time, always viewing her as an enemy, constantly seeking to bring her down.
The reason was simple.
Four years ago, Rishima and Daryl both represented the empire in the inter–federation jewelry design competition. Rishima blazed her way to victory, becoming the most prominent emerging designer in the federation that year, which earned her a position in the jewelry design department at Ashcroft Group. Meanwhile, Daryl, who was highly regarded and expected to perform well, didn’t even make it to the top ten.
Worse still, Daryl became entangled in a plagiarism scandal.
From then on, every wolf compared Rishima and Daryl.
Since that moment, Daryl considered Rishima his sworn enemy.
Chapter 12. Best Friend’s Alpha Wolf Match
Rishima’s resignation from Ashcroft Group didn’t cause much of a stir. For the past few days, the pack had been abuzz with news about Zvonimir and Farah’s mating ceremony, and no one cared about Rishima–the abandoned ex–mate–or if they did, she was merely a passing topic of gossip during idle moments.
As for Zvonimir, he was most likely lost in the sweetness of his new mate, with no concern for his ex–mate’s resignation.
No, that wasn’t right.
Rishima thought, Zvonimir was probably wishing for her to disappear quickly, to leave as far away as possible so he wouldn’t have to see her.
Fine, after attending the disgusting mate–bonding ceremony between him and Farah, she would pack her things and leave the empire for good.
Zvonimir’s mate–bonding ceremony was held at 7 PM in the largest five–star hotel in the empire. Rishima never expected that he would send two of his towering bodyguards to “escort” her to the venue of his mate–bonding ceremony.
Rishima knew that showing up at the ceremony as Zvonimir’s ex–mate would invite ridicule, but she didn’t care. She knew this was part of Zvonimir and Farah’s plan. They wanted her to play the fool and entertain the guests at their mate–bonding ceremony.
Before Rishima left for the hotel, Zelda was incredibly anxious. Over the phone, Zelda advised her, “When the time’s right, tell them you have a stomach ache and need to use the restroom, then find an excuse to leave. Don’t be stupid enough to stay there and let wolves laugh at you, okay?”
Rishima calmly replied, “No, I also want to see how their mate–bonding ceremony will unfold.”
She wanted to witness how the wolf who had once whispered countless sweet words into her ear and swore to treat her well for a lifetime would repeat those same tender promises to another female wolf tonight.
The car quickly arrived at the hotel.
By then, the lobby was already filled with guests, grouped in small circles, holding glasses of wine and whispering themselves.
among
They were all high–ranking figures in society, from the wealthy and aristocratic, to famous artists in the entertainment industry, and notorious businesswolves in the world of commerce. The hall was elegantly decorated with lilies, symbolizing a couple growing old together. A dazzling crystal chandelier illuminated the champagne tower in the center of the hall, everything sparkling and mesmerizing.
When Rishima, dressed in a black gown, stepped into the hall, she immediately drew the attention of many guests.
One reason was that she was Zvonimir’s ex–mate, but another was that Rishima’s beauty and presence were so striking that she couldn’t be ignored.
Her gown was a form–fitting English style, cinched at the waist, with an elegant bow adorning the neckline. Her tall figure and soft, beautiful face lacked the usual coldness she often wore.
Seeing such a captivating and regal female wolf like Rishima, the wolf guests at the party felt as though they had been struck by lightning.
Though their faces showed no expression, inside they were filled with excitement. Their bodies instinctively leaned toward her, even their toes pointed in her direction
From a psychological standpoint, these postures revealed the thoughts in their hearts.
They were intensely drawn to Rishima, and some were even preparing to make their move!
