Chapter Thirty Nine

The acrid scent of blood and smoke burned my nostrils as I ran through the forest. The shadows of the trees stretched around me

twisted shapes casting eerie outlines against the pale light of the moon. My heart thundered in my chest, the sounds of battle ringing in my ears as the link with my mates filled with chaos

Umbrakins.”

I’d heard the word before, whispered in ancient stories. Monsters born of the Shadow Weaver’s corruption. They weren’t supposed to exist anymore. For over a hundred years, they had been nothing but nightmares meant to scare children. Yet here they were, real and terrorizing my pack

How many are there?I asked through the link, my voice trembling despite my best effort to stay calm

Too many,Elijah’s strained voice replied. We’ve taken a few down but they’re faster and stronger than anything we’ve faced. Stormi, don’t engage recklessly. Please.”

I didn’t answer, my focus sharp as I pushed myself to run faster. My glowing wolf form illuminated the forest around me, the soft silver light an odd contrast to the darkness closing in

When I broke through the treeline, chaos greeted me

The pack grounds were unrecognizable, overrun by the hulking forms of the umbrakins. They moved like shadows, their pale, hairless bodies contrasting grotesquely with their wolflike snouts. Their claws gleamed in the moonlight, dripping with blood. All around me, wolves and humans fought desperately, their cries of pain and rage filling the air

I didn’t have time to process it all. A guttural growl ripped through the air, and I turned just in time to see one of the creatures tearing into a man. His screams cut off abruptly as blood splattered across the ground. My stomach churned, but I didn’t hesitate

With a snarl, I leaped at the umbrakin, slamming into its side. It staggered but recovered quickly, turning to swipe at me with razor sharp claws. I dodged, my glowing fur barely escaping its grasp. My teeth found its arm, and I bit down hard

The umbrakin shrieked, a sound so piercing it made my ears ring. It thrashed violently, throwing me off before I could do more damage

A blur of movement caught my eye, and suddenly Elijah was there, his fist glowing with golden energy. He slammed it into the umbrakin’s chest, sending it flying several feet before it hit the ground with a sickening crunch

Elijah!I gasped, staring at him in shock

His fists still shimmered faintly, and in his other hand, a barrier of golden light flickered into existence, deflecting an incoming attack from another umbrakin. He glanced at me briefly, his expression grim

Stormi, focus!he shouted, punching another creature that lunged at him

Before I could respond, another umbrakin charged at me. I sidestepped, slashing at its side with my claws. It howled in pain, but it wasn’t enough to stop it. It lunged again, and I barely managed to duck under its attack

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Alex. Flames erupted from his hands as he set one of the creatures ablaze. The umbrakin writhed, its screams echoing as its body disintegrated into ash

Alex!I called, trying to warn him as another umbrakin closed in behind him

Before the words left my mouth, I was already moving. I tackled the creature, pinning it to the ground. My jaws found its neck, and with a powerful bite, I ended its life

Alex turned, his eyes wide. Thanks,he said, breathing heavily

Don’t mention it,I replied, panting.

Through the link, I asked, Where are Austin and Isaiah?”

They’re helping evacuate the town,Alex answered. Most of the pack is already in the underground bunker.”

I frowned. Bunker?”

It’s connected to all the pack houses by tunnels,Elijah explained as he fought off another umbrakin. They were built thousands of years ago for situations like this.”

Before I could react further, the air around us shimmered, and a loud rip echoed across the battlefield

We turned to see a swirling rift opening near the edge of the tree line. From the rift stepped six women clad in pristine white suits, their presence exuding both elegance and power

Their outfits were striking: white bodices that clung like second skins, etched with intricate patterns that resembled delicate armor. Flowing pleated skirts shifted with otherworldly grace, their textures catching the light like woven moonbeams. Sleeves extended into fingerless gloves, rugged as though forged from fire. A gleaming headpiece crowned each of their heads, framing their regal faces like celestial queens

The Omega: Mated To The Four

Chapter Thirty Nine-

Eira appeared from the shadows, her wand glowing faintly in her hand

You’re late, she said, her voice sharp

The leader of the witches inclined her head slightly, unbothered by the remark. The rift only just stabilized.”

The witches raised their wands, glowing with different hues of power With synchronized motions, they unleashed bursts of magic that lit up the battlefield, striking down the umbrakins with deadly precision. The creatures fell one after another, unable to withstand the witchesoverwhelming strength

I stood frozen, watching the witches in awe. But then another howl shapped me back to reality and we continued fighting its was like they kept coming

When the last umbrakin was defeated after what felt like forever, the leader of the witches turned to me

You must prepare yourself, Silver Wolf, she said, her voice calm but commanding. The Shadow Weaver’s forces will only grow stronger. This was merely a warning.”

Before I could respond, Elijah’s voice broke through the telepathic link

Stormi, are you okay? You need to find Mariahnow.”

Stormi!Alex shouted suddenly, his voice urgent. Mariah went after you before the attack started!”

What?I froze, my heart dropping. Why didn’t you tell me sooner

There wasn’t time!he replied. She went into the forest after you just when the umbrakins appeared.”

Panic surged through me. I bolted toward the forest, following Mariah’s scent

Her scent was faint, almost drowned out by the overwhelming stench of blood and smoke, but I followed it with everything I had. My paws pounded against the ground, my breaths coming in rapid bursts

My mind raced as guilt and fear clawed at me. I shouldn’t have argued with her. I should have stayed

As I ran, the scent of blood grew stronger, and my stomach twisted with dread

Then I saw ita trail of blood leading deeper into the forest

No,I whispered, my steps faltering

The trail led me to a clearing where her clothes lay torn and bloodied. The scent of her was strong, but so was the scent of death

I froze, staring at the scene as a strangled howl escaped me. My knees buckled, and I fell to the ground as I shifted back

MariahI whispered, tears streaming down my face. No, no, no…

Stormi.”

I turned sharply, my tearfilled eyes meeting Isaiah’s as he emerged from a shadow, his face a mixture of worry and sorrow

Where did you come from?I asked, my voice breaking

Chapter Thirty Nine

II think I can travel through shadows,he said, though his tone was distracted. Did you find her?”

I didn’t answer. Instead, I clutched Mariah’s torn clothes to my chest The scent of blood was suffocating, and I couldn’t stop the sobs that wracked my body

I’m sorry,I whispered over and over. I’m so sorry”

Isaiah knelt beside me, his face filled with sadness. He shrugged off is dress shirt and draped it over my shoulders

Stormi,he said gently. We need to go back.”

I shook my head, clutching the bloodied fabric tighter. She’s gone. She’s gone because of me”

Isaiah’s hand rested on my shoulder, grounding me. This isn’t your fault.”

I wanted to believe him, but the weight of guilt was unbearable

Before I could respond, Isaiah pulled me close, wrapping me in his arms. We’ll figure this out, Stormi. But we have to go back. They need you.”

I nodded weakly, unable to speak

Stepping into the shadow of a nearby tree, Isaiah’s powers enveloped us. The world around me shifted, darkness swirling before we emerged back at the pack house

As soon as we appeared, the others rushed toward us. Elijah, Austin, and Alex looked bloodied and exhausted, their faces pale with

worry

Did you find her?Alex asked, his voice hesitant

The look on my face must have said it all because their expressions crumbled

Tears streamed down my face as I clutched Mariah’s clothes. She’s gone,I whispered, my voice breaking. She’s gone because of

me”

Elijah pulled me into his arms, holding me tightly as I sobbed. The others crowded around, their own grief evident in their expressions
