It’s looking like you’re doing pretty well,” The healer says, taking out the gauze of my shoulder. I believe you’re healing just right. You’ll be perfectly fine in no time.”

She applies something over it, but I can’t see it as it’s on the side of my shoulder

Do you have any kind of pain anywhere else?she pulls back and asks me

I shake my head. There’s nothing. Just relief. A lot of relief. Which I’m glad for. The past few days have been nothing short of pleasant. Everything’s better and healing

The healer nods at me and sighs. Take off your shirt. I need to see to your stomach as well.”

Oh, it doesn’t hurt. Not at all,” I tell her, feeling the relief already spreading, my bruises healing. Really, there’s nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

It’s just a precaution, dear. Don’t worry.”

Without any further hesitance, I bring my hands down to the bottom of my shirt and pull up and off, feeling a sense of self- consciousness. The bruising that was there has faded, mostly. It’s reduced and almost almost healed. There’s no tightness in my skin, and I can move just fine without effort

any

Any discomfort?”

None. I’m feeling fine.I tell her as she touches them

Good.”

I wear my shirt back after she’s done checking, and with that, she packs up her things and puts them into the bag she has bought

Just continue with the herbal blend I’ve given you,” She says to Marcella, who stands by my side. And if anything changes, let me know. Otherwise, it appears everything’s healing as it is meant to. Once the course of the blend is over, she’ll be back to normal.”

They both speak for a moment before Marcella escorts the healer out. Once they were gone, I get up and catch a glimpse of my shoulder in the mirror, to see how it has been underneath the bandage. There’s only a mark left, alongside the mark that’s on my neck

I trace my finger over the burn mark and find myself wandering for a minute there until someone comes into the room

It’s been nearly over four days now since I’ve been here. Most of the time I spend is in my bed. I’ve barely gone outside the room. Marcella won’t let me. Her eyes are like a hawk and upon me all day and night. She tells me it’s best if I rest for a couple of days longer

It’s unlike I have somewhere else to go, which I don’t and if I try to even suggest about going downstairs, she gives me a stern look and I immediately retreat back into the room. She doesn’t want me anywhere outside except my room or the bathroom

Before I know, she back inside again

Do you want me to help you with the shower?she asks me

With the salve on my skin, I hadn’t taken a shower in three days, but now, with the healer’s confirmation that my wounds have indeed healed, it won’t be a problem anymore

Oh, no, I’m okay. It’s fine,I shake my head and say. I can do it by myself

Alright. I’ll arrange some clothes for you then=”

No, it’s fine. I’ll do that too.”

My, you’re truly stubborn, she says in a manner that’s almost the equivalent of a mother scolding her child. Fine. I’ll leave you to it then. Once you’re done, let me know and I’ll bring up dinner for you.”

I give her a small nod

She leaves after that and I manage to close the door for the first time in a while

I head straight into the washroom and quickly take off my clothes. While I’ve been changing my clothes, I still haven’t washed my hair or my body since the night at that cabin

I feel dirty. Dirty and awful, but Marcella was always very insistent that I take a shower when the healer would stop by. And as far as I knew, the water would be warm all day and night. So I didn’t have to wait for anything, or at least that was a thing

Reaching my hands, I grasp for the faucet and twist, letting the water down upon me

spray

Warm water falls. All around

There is nothing more comforting than bathing in warm water. Taking in a deep breath, I lean back and rest my forehead against the wall, feeling the hot, refreshing water sliding down my body

After I’m done showering, I change this time before getting out. When I’m out of the bathroom, Marcella’s already here with the dinner on the table. I don’t have to tell her twicethat’s one thing

She smiles and gestures for me to come sit down

I have

my dinner with her, and after that, she leaves while I go to bed. I’ve no option but to get under the sheets. The tea that I drink puts me to sleep immediately. It’s almost like a spell, the way it takes me from drowsy to dreamland

I close my eyes, and right, almost instantly

I comes

I dream of light and dark, places and streets and a sunken tub, a door open, and the night behind it

And him. Always him

I jolt awake from my sleep out of nowhere so suddenly that it shakes me to the core. A chilling fear grips me and I push myself up onto my elbow and look around. The fear only intensifies at first, a pounding heart, sweat at the back of my neck, a deafening ringing in my ears

And then the noise grows louder, ringing on repeat, becoming the loudest sound in the world. Something in me shifts. It

moves. The wolf

Gasping, I stumble out of the bed, grasping my chest

My wolf

Air flees my lungs. Gasping and wheezing, I struggle to take my next breaths. It’s not hunger or lack of sleep. I have been resting, so it isn’t anything of that sort. But a great weight is pulling me, pulling my wolf, dragging her somewhere

I want to go to where it wants me to go, the urgency feels real. Reaching the door, I open it up and step outside. Quiet fills the air. But my instincts still carry me to somewhere. They lead me astray, along the many halls in the direction of the east

side of the house

My feet draw me there without my command. I am lost in the vastness of this place, so large that I don’t know what part of the house I’m in. But I continue walking, following the trail of my wolf

It’s not until my ear prickles with sound that I stop in my tracks outside a door that I’ve never seen before. A faint rumble of voices resonates from behind it, the sound familiar, and it calms me in ways it shouldn’t

Curious, I lean into the wood and listen intently, trying to ignore the ache that still persists within. I hear no one speak

I breathe in as I twist the handle slowly. The door struggles to open at first, but when it does, my ears immediately catch the subtle rise and fall of breathing

Is someone in here

A single push is all it takes, and I step inside. Darkness invades me, and fear laces my veins

My heart race. My wolf stops rattling inside me, she comes to a complete halt and so do I. I look ahead but I can’t see anything. But I can feel something

Something so strange, so powerful, so terrifying

But that feeling only lasts for a second before I’m pulled by a stronger force. My heart drops in my chest as the hand tightens around my wrist

What are you doing here?Aron asks me, his voice deep

I panic. And for a brief moment, I forget how to breathe
