Aron
The werewolf council has arrived.
The council consists of eight members, three of whom I know well and personally. The other five aren’t the best ones I have ever met, not really. The members of the council change every fifteen years; the bloodlines of the most prominent werewolf families take turns in positions. All the council members are either from families who used to have large packs or from families that are known for their large history or wealth.
There is a reason the council is a group of people I do not enjoy having around.
They watch everything: they observe every move of every single Alpha, of every pack, making sure nothing happens in the werewolf society without them being the first to know.
And if something happens without their knowledge or consent, well then, they re a force to be reckoned with. The council is not made up of wolves who take anything lying down.
“Aron.” Selina greets me with a smile. She’s one of the three council members that I have known. “How are you doing?” There are two more behind her, Cade and Alexander, both of whom have visited the Bloodclaw before on more than one occasion, and whom I don’t particularly like.
“Good,” I nod toward her before turning to Rhea, who stands by my side. “This is Rhea; she’s my mate.”
“Oh, that’s a delight.” I take a step back and let them greet Rhea. I’m Selina Duket, and this is Alexander, she motions at the young male wolf behind her, with a tall frame and light blonde hair. “And Cade, Cade Vos. I hope you’re enjoying your time here. The last time I was here, it was so different, and Aron was quite the troublemaker, to be honest
My hand rests on Rhea’s waist, “She is. And that is the past. Things have changed.”
Selina gives me an all–knowing look before she takes a step back and gathers her hands around her waist. “Well, I hope it is.” “Yes, I respond. “Why don’t we sit down somewhere?”

I turn to find Marcella, who waits for my gesture before stepping forward and guiding the members of the council into the lounge upstairs. While they head up, I remain down for a few moments, gathering my thoughts, calming myself, and keeping all my anger and annoyance at their presence out of my system for good.
“You don’t like them, Rhea whispers to me quietly, even when we’re alone.
“You think you’re in trouble?”
I’m not sure myself about that. It could be many things. Many things. Starting with killing Elias and the havoc I created at his wedding. The list on and on.
Rhea squeezes my hand gently. “It’s alright. They’ll be gone soon enough.”
Soon enough
I take her upstairs with me, to the lounge where they are already seated by Marcella. My beta, Liam, is present as well,

waiting for my entrance before taking the floor, 1 sit opposite the council members, keeping Rhea right next to me on the

Kovas isn’t here today. He’s attending to other concerning matters. And the council doesn’t really appreciate when there’s a third party present, especially a pack wolf that doesn’t have a title in the pack.
“Through the month, we’ve heard some concerning issues that I’m certain you’re aware of, Selina wastes no time getting to the point. It’s like she knows what she’s here for, and this isn’t the first time, Her gaze flickers to the other members of the council before turning to me
They’re letting her speak to me because they know I won’t snap at a female. That’s the whole purpose she’s here.
I take a deep inhale and look at her, “What issues? I’m not going to make it any easier for them.
“The attack on the Blackfang pack, the Nighthowl, and the very recent attack on the Dumas pack.”
“Right? And that is concerning how?”
“You killed all their Alphas-
“With reasoning, of course,” I reply with an easy shrug.
Aron-
“Elias deserved it.” Rhea adds to the conversation.
My gaze lands on Selina, who looks like she’s at a loss for words
My lips curl up slightly at the corner.
Yes. She can say that. And she’s my mate, so who can question the validity of what she says! No one.
I clear my throat and continue, “Elias tried to kill my mate. He was a threat, and I don’t think I broke any kind of laws there.”
“Yes, but there were several ways this could’ve been dealt with. The Blackfang pack was a powerful one in the south, and when you killed its Alpha, you left it in shambles-
“It’s not in shambles.”
“It’s falling into it” she corrects herself. The park needs to be taken over and rebuilt again. You, as a northern Alpha, cannot overser operations over there. Therefore, we would like to hand it off to one of our associates in the south.
I raise my brow, “You mean take away my claim?”
I believe this is one of the reasons why they are here. I get it now.
They give a look at each other again, one that’s almost nervous and unsure, before she looks at me. Before she can speak again, one of the other members, Cade Vos, voices his thoughts
“It’s within the council’s right to do that if needed, he replies “We know it wasn’t your intent; however, the Blackfang is falling. Elias was a good Alpha, regardless of what he intended on doing with your mate. The pack will crumble if we let it. It would be vital for another Alpha to oversee this now, considering that you have your hands full with the recent events here.”
The Dumas. Right
I take in a slow, calming breath. I know what they’re implying, the words behind those statements and what it means.
“Lunderstand you may be displeased with the matter, Selina continues, looking at me with a soler look. “But it’s something you should consider in the long term as an Alpha of a pack that borders other packs in the north.”

It wasn’t like I wanted Elias‘ pack. I didn’t. I did it for revenge and to have him out of my way.
I hold back a sigh. “How long will you be here for?” I ask, not replying to them and not giving an immediate answer.
“A couple of days” Cade answers. His voice is smooth and calm–too calm for a werewolf, which only means one thing: he’s a scholar and has a lesser tendency toward the animal side of himself.
Tll consider your suggestion.”
“We appreciate your cooperation and understanding
With that, we talk for another few moments, discussing things that need my attention, which includes some reasoning for why I killed the Alpha of the Dumas pack and the Nighthowl, two packs in the north. I manage to find a suitable excuse for those kills as well, and thankfully no more arguments ensue, at least not on their behalf. I’m done arguing.
1 send Rhea with Marcella while leading them out of the manor. They leave as quickly as they came.
“It was good seeing you again.” Selina stays in the foyer while the other two step out. “Let me know when you’re free to catch up and have a drink. She smiles at me, a light playful one.
She has always been very… casual.
Thave a mate, Selina” I remind her
‘I know. She gives me another smile before placing her hand over my arm.
