Chapter 100
Chapter 100
Rhea
Last night, he was almost here–Aron was almost here. With me. But this morning, it’s nothing like that. Kael is gone before I even get out of my bed and there’s a note from him the table.
That he won’t be back until midnight.
Is he escaping me, or actually busy? I don’t know. And he doesn’t say. I can only speculate that it is the former
The phone is still there, which means he hasn’t noticed it yet or bothered to take it with him. I take it from the table and switch it on again.
There’s a missed call on it.
I dial the number and speak to Kovas, who’s the only one I can talk to right now,
“Rhea
“It’s me.” I say, turning away from the table.
“How’s everything?”
The same, There’s something stuck in the back of my throat as I say it, something I can’t swallow down. “I think there was a change last night.”
“What kind?”
“I could feel Aron for a moment, but then it was gone. It was just a moment. Is it possible that Kael has more control over him?” The question has been on my mind ever since I saw that.
“I told you before. The stronger Karl grows, the harder it will be to connect with Aron and as more time passes, it will become even harder.
I nod before realizing he can’t see me. Then I shake my head a little and ask him, “What about the ritual? Did you find what you were looking for?”
“I did, actually. Last night itself.”
“And
“It’s a woman—a witch”
My heart jumps, “A witch? It’s the first time I’m hearing of a witch. “How’s that possible?”
“Well, it was difficult to find her, but I did. Not all witches are dead. Those are just myths. There are some out there who are still living, hiding
“And you found one?
“Yes
–
“What did she say?”
That it can work. If she can get her hands on him.

Chapter 100
“What can work?
“There’s a spell that she can do that will take bring explains to me.
Aron to the surface for good. It will weaken Kael for sometime. He
“Sometime?” I furrow my brows. That doesn’t sound good. It will weaken his wolf. What will that mean?”
It won’t mean that he will disappear completely. No, it will take some time to heal, and he won’t have as much control as he does have now. It could take months, or maylse a year for him to resurface,
I take a minute to ponder. It sounds like a good thing, a hopeful solution.
“But he can still shift, right?”
“Of course, Kovas chuckles at that. “I don’t want to kill him, Rhea. We don’t want that.”
“Okay…
“What do you say?”
“What’s required for this spell? And are you certain it will work? Do you know this woman?” I’m slightly concerned.
I do. I’ve heard about her and when I met with her last night, she knew of Kael’s curse as well. And I’m positive this spell will
work
I can feel myself getting more nervous as each second passes, “Alright, then, tell me, how it works?”
“I need to take him to her, He tells me and I’m unable to contain the surprise from escaping my lips.
“Are you mad?”
“You’ve got to bring him here.”
“Where?” I ask.
“It’s east of the pack. There’s a land–the same land that Aron exchanged you for at your old pack.”
I press my fingers against my forehead and start walking again. Back and forth.
“I can’t bring him there, Kovas. He’ll know something is up. He’s always suspicious. There has got to be some other way Something that doesn’t involve himTM
The witch, needs his blood and his presence to perform the ritual. It won’t take long. All you’ve to do is bring him here, and the minute he is here, he’ll be weakened enough to not be able to put up a fight”
My lips part and I feel the worry crawling up on me. I don’t think I’ll be able to do it. I just–Kael will know. I know he will.
“Kovas, I don’t think it’s a good idea,” I say. “He can’t be manipulated so easily.”
“This is the only option we’ve to bring him back. He’s too cautious, he won’t let Aron come out. We’ve to do this He’s adamant in his stance.
My teeth sink into my lower lip and I close my eyes, trying to think, to find any other solution to it, but I can’t I don’t know of any, not that I have any knowledge about these things, or curses.
If it is even a curse
“Okay. Let me think of it,” I finally say. “It doesn’t have to be done right away. We can wait, right?”

“Of course
Then, give me some days or maybe a week. I’ll try to think of something.”
“Okay, Rhea. But keep me updated. The witch has agreed to help, and she’s willing to wait. The quicker we do it, the better, but if you feel like it’s too dangerous right now, then we can wait, Kovas agrees
“Yes” I breathe out. “Let me think about it.”
“And Rheal”
“Yes. I wait for him to continue.
“Don’t let Kael know about any of this. If he gets even a hint that we’re planning this, he will do everything in his power to stop it. To get Aron angry is one thing, but to get on Kael’s bad side is another. His voice drops low, as if in caution.
I know, I’ll be careful. My fingers wrap around the hem of the top I’m wearing and my heart pounds hard. With t
that, I drop the call, delete the call log and switch off the phone before placing it back on the table. My mind keeps running in different directions and it’s hard for me to contain my emotions. It feels like they’re running rampant.
1 don’t know what I’m going to do. This seems to be our only chance, and yet, I feel like I’m failing already.
What if Kael doesn’t agree? Or worst he finds out?
He’ll hate me if he knows that I’m playing with him again. Which he will find out–he’ll catch it coming miles away. I know him now. He will. And he won’t be merciful either. I know this. I’ve seen what he’s capable of, what he’s not.
He’s ruthless
It’s almost midnight when I hear him in the house. I remain on my bed, facing the window with my hand tucked underneath my pillow. My thoughts run wild again when I sense him coming up the stairs.
I try to act as if I’m asleep. No part of me wants to face him today, not until I’ve my own
feelings sorted.
He shuffles around for a bit, I hear that and then suddenly, the door behind me creaks wider.
Shilo
I press my eyes shut tight, but my heart races like I’m already caught in my web of schemes and lies.
Does he know? Did he see the phone?
Or is there something else going on?
He was meant to meet Selina today, the council woman. Maybe they did sleep together. My fingers tighten into fists at the mere thought of it, but I don’t say anything.
Maybe they did.
My breathing is shallow, as I keep
my eyes shut, my mind racing and running.

Karl comes to me, he’s beside me and the way his fingers come to rest on the top of breath in me.
“Rhea,” he whispers, “Wake up.” He leans in and I feel him, all over me. His breath, his lips against my neck.
I don’t react. Not until I have to…

“Wake up, he calls again, and his lips brush over the side of my neck, touching the skin where he has marked me before.”
He kisses the spot and I let out a gasp, not able to contain myself anymore.
“Good” He moves back, inches back. “Come on. Get up and change.
I sit up, opening my eyes to see that he has taken a few steps back
“Change?” I ask
“We’re going back
“Back
To the house.”
I take a deep breath and just stop right there. Is he taking me back? Why? Why now?
“But you said-
“I think enough time has passed by, and I know you’ve learned your lesson, right?”
Yes.
“Good, because I’m trusting you, Rhea. Don’t go back on that trust. Don’t do anything stupid, or else I’ll make you pay for
that
His warning makes me stop for a second, and I almost want to know if he has an inkling about what’s going to happen.
“Get dressed, and get ready to leave in ten minutes. The sooner we are back home, the better.”
I nod slowly. “Alright.”
I don’t say anything more. There’s no need for me to do that. Not for now at least,
