Chapter 105
Rhea
“We have been concerned about your well–being. Rumors are being spread about your actions all over the country,” his mother speaks to him, standing before him, appearing all prim and proper with furs wrapped around her neck.
Aron stands by the fireplace, his posture a little worried.
“Rumors,” he repeats, trying to hide the confusion in his tone. “They are just rumours. Nothing is happening.”
“Are you certain about that? The council was here, weren’t they?”
“They wanted control of the Blackfang pack. That is all.”
She raises her brow. “I’m struggling to believe that, Aron. I know there’s something wrong, something has been wrong for a while now. I can tell. I’m your mother. Why won’t you speak to us?”
“Nothing,” he responds, turning around to look at her. “Nothing’s happening. You don’t have to worry.”
His mother glances at me briefly. I’m standing in the corner, on the other side of the room where there’s barely any light.
“Aron-”
“Mother,” he steps in front of her, blocking her view. “There’s nothing you so you can stay today. We’ll talk later. I’m already very exhausted, so excuse us for some time, and I promise we’ll talk to worry about. I’ll have Marcella prepare rooms for
tomorrow.”
That shuts everything down.
Aron leaves after saying that, going into his room, and I want to do the same, to follow him out of the lounge room we are in, but I can’t take a step out without being stopped by Mrs. Alena, his mother.
“Rhea, wait.”
Marcella clears her throat and comes inside, looking straight at me. “You should get some rest,” she tells her, wanting me to leave as soon as I can.
“Rhea,” his mother repeats.
I can’t help it.
I turn to her and wait for her to continue. She takes a few steps closer to me, closing the distance between us.
“There are many things Aron has lied to me about, and I know he’s lying about something right now as well. What is it?” she
demands to know.
I shrug. “I don’t know.”
“You do. You mated with him, you carry his mark on your neck now. Tell me what he’s hiding, tell me the truth.”
I look into her eyes. “It’s not my place to tell anything”
“Is it not?” She cocks a brow, and when I don’t respond, she scoffs and looks around. “Where is his–Kovas?” she asks
Marcella.
“He’s–resting.”

Chapter 105
“Well, tell him to come here as soon as he’s awake. Perhaps I can get more out of him than from you two.” She waves her hands, and Marcella only nods before leading her and Aron’s sister out of the lounge room, leaving me to myself.
They don’t know that Kovas is downstairs, resting in one of the guest rooms with a healer by his side, should anything happen to him. The witch helped him heal, but it was going to take a while before he was going to be alright.
On the other hand, the presence of Aron’s mother and sister right now doesn’t really suggest anything good.
The last time they were here, I ran away, believing I was worthless to Aron. And it almost feels similar, like the first time, however, this time, I know that there is no way, no chance, that I will let them convince me otherwise.
Aron is my mate, and regardless of everything, we belong together.
Forever.
When I return to Aron, he’s pacing in his room, waiting for me. As soon as I’m inside the room, the door shuts behind me. There’s a paranoid look in his expression as his eyes meet mine. It has been like that since we returned, and I can’t tell why. Is it because Kael cannot be in control anymore? That some situations make him more on edge?
“Did she tell you something?” he asks me instantly.
I shake my head. “Nothing. Are you worried?” I question him instead, stepping closer.
“I think they are here for a reason, especially after last time. I don’t want to let them interfere in our lives once more. They shouldn’t.”
“They won’t.”
Meso
That doesn’t really reassure him at all.
His hands wrap around my shoulders, and he leans inward. “My mother, she’s clever and cunning. Don’t be alone around her at any cost,” he warns.
“I won’t be.”
“I have no intention of letting her have a say in anything. If she or my sister tells you anything or forces you to do anything you are not willing to do, do not obey them and tell me. I’ll deal with it.”
I nod again, but that doesn’t ease his worries. There’s more to his paranoia that’s slowly slipping through.
He pulls away and begins pacing again, walking over to the other side of his room.
“They have no idea that Kovas is here right now, and it’ll be hard to explain why that is. But he should be alright by morning, so that’s less to explain.” He shakes his head. “But my mother will keep asking questions, and she’s going to bother you more. I can’t—I won’t tolerate her behavior this time. She shouldn’t speak to you in any sort of way. You’re my mate. No one can disrespect you.”
“I’ll keep my distance.”
“That doesn’t matter when she doesn’t know how boundaries work. They know, she knows that I’ve taken you as my mate. It would be only wise if they know you’re more than my mate but the Luna of my pack. That should give them enough of an incentive to keep away from you and respect you,” he suggests.
I’m stunned, in fact, I can’t move or talk.
“You want to-” I trail off and look at him.
He can’t be serious, right?

Chapter 105
He stops and comes closer to me. There’s no lie in his words as his eyes stare into mine. There’s only seriousness.
“Yes,” he responds. “I’ll tell Marcella to make preparations. My family, my pack–everyone should know who you are.” My heart skips a beat at the suggestion. I have to remind myself that this isn’t Kael. It’s Aron, it really is, so it shouldn’t feel strange or unnatural that Aron would want me to be the Luna of his pack.
But it does feel like that.
It’s not the time or the moment for such a decision. Not after all that’s been happening.
“But-
His hands come to my face, and he cups my cheek. “No, buts. I want you to be the rightful Luna, for my people to see and acknowledge who you are to them.” His thumb swipes at my bottom lip, the soft flesh indents under his touch.
“Aron-
“No one can keep us apart. And after last time, my mother will never dare to separate us.”
He wants me to become his Luna, to stand by his side as he runs his pack. He’s offering me something that is much more than I deserve, something I never imagined, something I’m surely not worthy of.
He’s giving it to me.
The title.
