We’ll send out the invitations for the announcement event earliest by tomorrow,” I tell Marcella while looking at the list she has provided me with. “It’s best so we can get the final head count by the week’s end, and the arrangements for the event can be made?
Of course, she nods and agrees with me. Tve listed all the surrounding pack wolves that we’re sending invitations to, including the Greshire pack. It’s very important to send their Alpha, Alpha Dean, this invite to our pack. He’s one of the most. prominent-
Alphas in the northern territory. I finish for her before she does.
She gives me a smile. “You’ve been learning
“I have. It’s not easy being a Luna, but I think I’m getting the hang of it,” I say with a grin.
I am
It has been over a week since the crowning ceremony, and I’ve been thrown into the deep end of being a Luna. It’s not as easy as it sounds, and it’s definitely not for the weak, but I’m doing my best to adjust.
And I think I’m doing well so far. I’m not making too many mistakes, and I don’t think I’ve done anything to upset Aron yet with all the choices and decisions I’ve made for the pack.
“Well, why don’t you handle the rest of the invitations? I’m going to go change and take a run before it gets dark,” I tell her while finishing with half of the list that’s there.
It’s past lunch, and I really want to stretch my wolf before anything.
“Right. Don’t worry about it; I’ll take care of it. Enjoy your run.”
“I will. Thank you, Marcella” I get up from my seat, walk out of the room, and head into the hallway that leads to the staircase.
While I’m walking towards the steps, I suddenly pause and just freeze there. A scent reaches me, and it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand. I swallow hard as I try to make sense of what it is, what it could possibly be. But it’s not the first time I’ve felt this. I’ve felt this before, and I know what this is. Or who this is.
It’s that man.
Turning around, I find Marco bringing in the man I had met only last week. Cade. He’s not alone, though. Kovas is right behind them.
My eyes linger on him, and my breathing starts to race again. I don’t know why, but it always does. Every single time, it’s the exact same thing.
“Ah, Rhea, Kovas greets me. “Perfect timing. You remember Mr. Vos from the council?”
Cade’s eyes are on me, and I’m instantly uncomfortable. I look away, and I try to avoid looking at him. There’s something about him that just doesn’t sit right with me.
“Yes, I do, I respond, my voice a little shaky.
*Councilman Cade is here for a brief meeting with Aron. Would you like to join us? Considering you’re now a part of thi- pack and a very important member, I think it’s best if you come along, Kovas tells me.

Chapter 110
I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. I don’t.
“Oh, I was just about to step out.” I come up with something as quickly as I can. “Why don’t you two go ahead?” I’m unable to think of anything right now.
It hits me all of a sudden.
What is it?
“Alright then, I’ll catch you later.” Kovas nods at me before guiding the man to the stairs, where I was just about to go.
I take a turn and instead head the other way. There are many staircases in this manor, and I’m sure I could find my way to my room without having to face them. That’s what I want.
Why is this happening to me? Why do I feel like this in that man’s presence? It’s odd and terrifying.
The last time I saw that man was over a week ago, at the ceremony, and I thought it was just something random and not anything else, but now that he’s here, and I’m feeling the same, I can’t ignore it.
There’s a pull to him.
And I’m not meant to have that.
Not with him, or anyone else, but Aron.
After the run, I feel a bit relaxed, less tense, and less worried. My mind is able to clear a bit, and I’m not thinking of the earlier encounter. Or rather, I’m trying to push away all thoughts regarding that.
Night falls, and before sitting down for dinner with Aron, I pull Kovas to the side. “Hey, I need to ask you something,” I tell him, and we go into the library. “Just something random.”
I close the door behind me, and I’m unable to find the words. I don’t even know how to start this conversation. It’s not like it’s something that is spoken of. Not something that happens every day. “What is it?” Kovas asks me.
“I’m asking you about this out of curiosity-”
“There’s no need to hesitate, Rhea. You can talk to me about anything, especially after everything we’ve been through.” He rolls his eyes a little in a sarcastic way.
I release a breath and look around one more time before dropping the question onto him. “Is it possible that a female wolf could be fated to more than one wolf?” I ask him. “I mean, can a person have two fated mates?”
Kovas stares at me for a moment, his gaze flickering over my face, searching and looking for something. He doesn’t say anything immediately, and he takes a moment to reply. “Why do you ask? Is there something wrong between you and Aron?”
“No!” I quickly shake my head. “Nothing like that, I promise.”
“Are you
sure?”
“Yes,” I reply, my voice confident. “I just wanted to know, out of curiosity. I mean, there’s a lot to learn, isn’t there?” I give a nervous chuckle and move a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Right,” he says and pauses for a second. “No, it’s not. It’s impossible to have two fated mates. That’s not how nature works. A
wolf can never have two mates.
Okay.
That’s relieving. I guess?

Chapter 110
“Oh, that’s good. That’s great, actually
Kovas nods once before looking away from me. His hand moves up to the back of his neck before he takes a step back.
“Well, I should probably get to dinner,” he tells me, his tone a little out of the ordinary.
Yeah, go ahead. I’ll catch up in a few, I tell him.
He doesn’t take a second to leave the library. His expression is strange when he looks at me before he walks away. I can’t pinpoint what that look was, but it’s different from his usual self.
I turn around and lean against the table. I think of his answer.
It’s not possible.
It’s not possible to have two mates or fated partners. And it’s not possible that the same could happen to me.
I’ve got to get it out of my mind. I shouldn’t even think about it or dwell on it. It’s just not right.

I leave the library after a few minutes of gathering myself. Once I’m in the dining room, I quickly take notice of the shift in the atmosphere that wasn’t there when I first came in, but it’s there now.
Aron and Kovas are together, reading something while Marcella stands on the side with an envelope in her hand.
My eyes flicker back and forth before I question the both of them. “What is happening?” I ask.
Aron looks at me, and when I see his eyes, they are full of rage and fury.
“It’s a declaration of war, Kovas replies, handing me a letter.
A letter from the Greshire pack
“They responded to the invitation that was sent earlier today, and they don’t want to attend. Instead, they want to attack.” “Why?” I whisper before reading the response letter from Alpha Dean.
Your invitation has been nothing but a mockery to us and the packs that surround us. You have destroyed and killed two Alphas in the Northern territory, Aron, and you have claimed their packs as your own. This is against our laws. You may have the support of the council, but we will not back down from our fight. We will not let you continue to do as you please.
You will pay for your actions.
This is a declaration of war. We will attack you and your pack, and you will pay for the lives you have taken. This is not a threat. It is a promise.
