Chapter 113
Chapter 113
“Congratulations. You’ll be a great Luna to our pack.”
I hear the words over and over again. From members of the pack, from people I’ve only met once or twice, from wolves from other packs–everyone. I smile, nod, and thank them as the announcement is made by Aron in front of the crowd gathered here at the manor for the event.
It’s a little overwhelming, but a lot less today compared to last week, when I was actually being titled the Luna. Today is jus the formal event of announcing the title and letting everyone know of it. It’s all for show. I’m already the Luna.
And it’s a good feeling.
I never thought I’d be here, but I’m thankful for it.
“Slow down on the wine,” Aron whispers in my ear as he stands beside me, and I almost jump in surprise.
“I’m nervous,” I admit to him. I’ve been sipping on the red liquid since the event began, and it’s starting to show on my face I’m a bit flushed, and I feel a little tipsy.
“There’s nothing you need to be nervous about.” His arm slips around my waist, and he pulls me closer among everyone. “You’re doing great, far better than I did when I became the Alpha.”
I tilt my head at him and shake it. “I doubt that. You are an amazing Alpha and very kind.”
His grip on my waist tightens slightly, his fingers pressing into the silk of my dress. “Only to you,” he whispers near my ear. His breath trails down my neck, and a shiver of need passes through me.
I meet his gaze, and another smile forms on his lips. “And you, you are perfect.”
“Oh, stop.” I roll my eyes and push his chest gently. “You’re flattering me too much today.”
“I can never flatter you enough,” he replies.
We both share a laugh before Marcus approaches us and interrupts us.
“There’s someone outside waiting for you. You might want to go and see,” he tells Aron.
I look at him curiously, and Aron sighs. “Alright. Give me a moment, Rhea, and try not to drink too much. You’re tipsy already, and you don’t want to stumble on your own feet.”
I laugh and nod. “Only water.”
“Good.”
He leaves a small kiss on my cheek before stepping away with Marcus. They leave the ballroom and head outside while I remain here, watching the crowd that has gathered.
Oddly, there’s something missing, and that is Kovas. I haven’t seen him much these past few days, or at all. He does come to the manor, but then he disappears before I can even get a word out.
It’s not like him to miss something like this. He ought to be here, somewhere.
My eyes scan the room, searching for his face, a sight of him in the crowd, but there is nothing. Aron didn’t speak of him either, and it’s odd.
I set the glass of wine on the table and decide to step out of the ballroom to look fo here.

Chapter 113
The moment I step out, I find him at the end of the hallway, standing by himself, looking at his phone until he sees me.
“There you are,” I say to him. “I was just looking for you.”
He looks at me for a moment, his eyes glancing over me. “You should probably go back inside. I’ll join in a few minutes.
“I haven’t seen you much around. Did you have an argument with Aron?” It’s the first thing that comes to my mind, and I drop the question right there, without another thought.
“No, no,” he narrows his gaze. “Just under the weather.”
“Oh,” I say, tilting my head slightly. “You don’t seem sick.”
He chuckles. “Well, I’m not dying if that’s what you’re asking.”
His words are a relief, but his posture is anything but. His shoulders are tense, and his jaw is tight. He’s avoiding my gaze, looking anywhere but directly at me.
Something is off.
I know him well enough to see it.
“What is it?” I ask him. “You can talk to me. We’re friends, right?”
I’ve known him the longest here, and he has always been kind to me, even when everything was wrong. He helped me the most, and if there was a way I could help him, I would, no matter what.
“Of course we are,” he says after a pause. “And I appreciate your concern, Rhea.”
“But?” I prompt.
“But it’s nothing important.”
“Tell me. I’m curious now.” I press further.
Kovas sighs and looks around before taking a step closer to me. “It’s just-” he pauses, hesitating to reveal the truth. “There’s something that maybe you should know about.”
“Oh?”
“When this is over, and when everyone has left, I’ll take Aron for a run nearby, and you should go upstairs, to the east wing, to that room you went into once.”
My heart races. “Why?”
I remember the last time I went there, Aron was furious, and he didn’t like it.
I don’t even recall what I had seen, only the way Aron pulled me out, shut the door behind us, and never spoke of it again. “Just go,” he tells me. “It’s better if you know the truth before it’s too late.”
“The truth?”
“You’ll understand.”
Before I can push further, before I can force him to explain, he steps back and continues, “You should head inside before people start noticing you’re gone.”
I stare at him, confused. His shoulders are still tense, his fingers twitching sliël ̧1

It’s about me? Or Aron?
I don’t argue. Not now. Because whatever this is, whatever he’s not saying, I’ll know soon enough. So I nod, and without another word, I turn and walk back toward the ballroom while he remains still outside,
“There’s my Luna, Aron immediately finds me the moment I’m inside,
I swallow hard and look up at him. A smile wavers on my face as I meet his gaze. “Sorry, I went to freshen up” The lie slips through my lips with case.
“It’s alright. Come, I want you to meet someone,”
And with that, he takes me along with him.
