I gritted my teeth.
“Congratulations on being so smart,” I said sarcastically.
Lynne’s expression darkened, her smirk disappearing.
I stepped forward, rolling my shoulders. “For old times‘ sake, I’m giving you a choice. My voice was calm, but I let my power rise beneath my skin, letting her feel it. “Give us Elijah. Let us leave otherwise.”

Lynne’s lips curled into a slow, cruel smile.
“I think I’ll take the otherwise,” she said mockingly. Then her voice dropped, ice–cold. “And when this is over, I’ll skin you myself,

A growl rumbled in my chest,
“Well, then.” I cracked my neck. “I guess I won’t be going easy on you.”
I let the shift take met.

She snarled and shoved her palm against my side, chanting words I barely understood.

Chapter 188
Pain erupted along my ribs.
I roared, throwing her off before stumbling back, blood dripping onto the stone,
Lynne wiped a trail of blood from her lips, smirking.
“That all you got?”
I growled.
Austin dodged another strike, calling out, “Anytime now, Isaiah!”
Isaiah didn’t answer. He was already moving.
He slipped between two witches, too fast for them to react. His doggers flashed, slicing through their defenses before they could utter a single spell,
Then he was at the door.
Locked.
Damn it.
No shadows meant no easy way in.
His eyes darted across the room, searching for a solution.
Then he found it.
The torches.
Without hesitation, he grabbed a knife from his belt and hurled it.
The blade hit its mark.
The
first torch went out.
Darkness spread.
He threw another.
Another torch died.
Panic filtered through the witches as the room dimmed a little, shadows creeping back into the corners.
And with them, Isaiah’s advantage.
Lynne noticed too late.
darted toward Isaiah just as I lunged.
1 tackled her, my claws digging into her arms, forcing her down.
Her dagger sliced across my belly.

Pain flared, hot and sharp. Blod spilled onto the stone.
I staggered but didn’t fall.
She gasped for breath beneath me,
struggling
to lift her hand for another spell.
I snarled, baring my fangs.
Then I bit.

I tore away, panting, blood coating my jaws.
I stepped back, my legs shaking, barely able to stand.
The room was almost completely dark now.
I didn’t even notice at first.
The fighting had stopped.
All the witches were down.
It was just me and Lynne.
She lifted her hand one last time, her face twisted in rage.
Then, before she
could strike-
A hand grabbed me.
And dragged me into the shadows,
Darkness swallowed me whole.
