This was exactly what she needed. She had been fretting over her lack of funds, but now that Dylan had this much money, it might as well be hers After all, it was only a matter of time before she dragged Dylan back home where he belonged.

Without hesitation, she tipped the box over, spilling the strings of coins onto the floor in a noisy cascade

Hearing Matthew’s hurried footsteps approaching outside the door, Sophie snapped back to her senses and quickly called out, “No, it’s nothing! Don’t come in, Matthew! I just slipped while changing clothes.”
Hearing that she was changing clothes, Matthew naturally hesitated and didn’t push the door open.
Standing outside, he asked worriedly, “Are you sure you’re okay? Did you hurt yourself badly? Should I call for a doctor?”
‘A doctor? With what money?” Sophie thought, rolling her eyes since he couldn’t see her expression.
But she kept her tone sweet and replied, “No need, Matthew. I’m fine, really. It’s not serious.”
Just as she finished speaking, an idea struck her like lightning. Her eyes lit up, and she suddenly gasped, clutching her foot as if in pain. “Wait, Matthew! My foot might actually be worse than I thought!”
Matthew, who had just started to relax, tensed up again at her sudden change of tone. “What? Are you sure it’s not a fracture?”
“I don’t think it’s a fracture,” Sophie replied, feigning a wince. “But I might’ve twisted it. It hurts whenever I try to put weight
on it.”

She thought, “I am a genius, if my foot was injured, I wouldn’t be able to walk.

If he dared, Matthew would definitely stand up to him.

By now, Sophie’s foot had already swollen up alarmingly, the redness making it look particularly severe.
She hadn’t held back. She had smashed the wooden box against her foot with all her strength. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have swelled so quickly
