Darkness.
For what felt like an eternity, Stormi drifted in the quiet void, neither awake na trdly asleep. The sensation of floating consumed her, weightless yet heavy. There was no sound, no sensation, just an empty void stretching infinitely.
Was this death?
I tried to move, but my limbs refused to obey. My mind felt heavy, sluggish, like I was sinking deeper into a bottomless abyss.
Then, a voice–soft and distant, yet achingly familiar–broke through the silence.
“Storm… you need to wake up. You just have to.”
My breath hitched. My fingers twitched. A warmth bloomed in my chest, and suddenly, the darkness began to crack.
A sharp gasp tore through my nose, as my consciousness snapped back.
Her eyelids fluttered, her breath ragged as I became aware of the sensation of soft sheets beneath me, the warmth of blankets cocooning my aching body made me realize I was lying in bed. The world around me was hazy at first, but the scent of herbs and faint traces of burning incense filled my nose, grounding me.
My fingers twitched.

My ribs ached, my muscles burned, and a dull throbbing pounded in my skull. Where…?
A rustling sound to my side made me turn my head, and I found myself staring at a figure sitting beside me.
Dark eyes, filled d with relief and exhaustion, met
“She’s awake!”
The voice was Rowena’s.

Before I could process anything, she reached forward, her fingers grazing my hand as if she needed to confirm that I was really
there.
“I can’t believe it,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. “You finally woke up.”
I tried to respond, but my throat felt like sandpaper. And therewas something there.
“Easy,” Rowena murmured, placing a steadying hand on my armas 1 tied to move. She turned toward a younger witch standing near the door. “Go get the doctor, Elijah and the others. They need to see this.”
The witch nodded quickly and rushed out, leaving me with Rowena.
Only a few seconds passed and the door opened again, and a man stepped inside.
“This is Dr. Lomne,” Rowena introduced him. “He’s been monitoring you.”
The doctor walked over, his eyes sharp as he began examining her.

You were on an artificial ventilator,” he continued, stopping toward me. “I’ll remove the tubes now.
He reached forward, carefully extracting the breathing tube from my throat. The moment it left, I gasped, body convulsing as another fit of coughs tore through me. The pain in my ribs flared, but clenched my fists and forced myself to endure it.
“Take it easy,” Dr. Lorne instructed, patting my back gently.
My breathing was ragged, but I managed to nod.
I furrowed my brows. “What… happened? Where…..” I croaked, but my throat felt raw, my voice barely above a whisper.
Rowena frowned, pressing her hand against my forehead as if checking for a fever. “You’ve been in a coma for twenty days,” she said
softly.
My eyes widened. “T–Twenty…?
Rowena nodded. “Yes,”
Dr. Lome pulled out a few instruments, checking my vitals as he spoke. “When they found you, every single bone in
our body was broken. Your brain was swollen from the impact, and your heart stopped three times while we were trying to stabilize you.” He exhaled deeply, shaking his head. “Frankly, you should have died.”
1 swallowed.
Dr. Lome stepped back, folding his arms. “If you weren’t a werewolf, you’d already be six feet under.”
The weight of his words settled over me like a crushing tide.
I should have died.
I knew that.
Even with my supernatural healing, no one should have survived the fall from that mountain–let alone with injuries as severe as mine.
Yet, here I was.
Alive.
I reached up, my fingers wrapping around the delicate chain around my neck..
Mariah’s necklace.
I squeezed it tightly, and for the first time in years, I didn’t feel guilt when I thought of her.
I felt… peace.
The door burst open before I could dwell on it further,

They all looked like hell–disheveled hair, bruises, fresh scars marring their faces. But their gazes burned with raw relief

“I’m here,” I murmured.
Austin exhaled sharply, raking a hand through his hair. “You scared the hell out of us,” he muttered, though his voice wavered. *But… damn, it’s good to see you awake.”
I chuckled softly, though it hurt like hell. “I missed you guys too.”
My gaze flickered over them, my heart clenching at the fresh wounds they bare.
Elijah’s scarred brow.
Austin’s cat on his lip.
Alex’s bandaged arm.
Isaiah’s bruised knuckles

guys… My throat tightened. “You made it.”
Elijah nodded, his fingers tightening around mine. “Not without a fight.”
1 let out a breath of relief.
They survived.
Despite everything, they were still here..
My fingers curled around my necklace once more,
Mariah had told me I still had a purpose.
