CHAPTER 159 Revenge is Sweet
CHAPTER 159: Revenge Is Sweet
RHEA
“Are you sure you’ll be fine? All alone out there?” Marcella questions as she places my bag in one of the passenger seats in
the car.
“I’ll be fine. It won’t be long. Just a night or two.”
“I can always tell Kovas to tell some of the warriors to go with you. Or perhaps-”
I take a round of the car and come back to her, “I’ll be fine. I’m not going far, and it’s nothing of importance. I wouldn’t want to take away anyone else from their duties.”
She nods, but there’s still a little bit of doubt in her eyes.
She gives me a small hug before I get inside the car and drive off from the house.
Once I make it past the border, the road stretches in front of me and I continue to drive. South. Past the town, past the territory, past the safety.
The further I go, the more my mind races, but I’m determined to do this.
There’s a small pack of wolves near the location I’ve gotten. I had gotten the information from Cade. He managed to find out for me about her. He didn’t ask me about the reason of why I wanted to know where she was. He just simply told me.
Catelyn is there, in that little town called Ashvale. She’s living under the identity and last name of another person. That’s why it was hard to track her.
But now that I know, I’ll go there and make her pay for what she has done.
Not only for when she killed me, but all the times she has hurt me. Her lies that set off the events that led to Elias prisioning me in that cellar and almost getting me burned to death.
She’s going to suffer.
It’s a five hour drive from the house, and I leave early in the morning. The only one who knows that I’m gone is Marcella. I’m sure Kovas will find of it and soon try to contact me.
But it’ll be too late by then.
I’ve what I need–mortalbane, the poison that kills wolves, silver dust, lupivora and the same blade she used on me to kill
- me.
It’s all in the bag.
I’ll have my revenge.
When I reach Ashvale, it’s late. Night has fallen and the darkness is thick. According to Cade, she has a property under her name here, by the river side. That’s where she lives, and that’s where I head to straight.
It’s a small house sitting a little apart from the other houses on the land. A light is on from the inside, and that’s the only indicator that anyone is home.
I stop a little further and switch off the engine.
My heart races at the thought of killing her.
The rage and hate, the pain, and the anguish, they all come back as I recall all the moments with her. How she treated me, and how she treated Rhea. How she hurt me, and killed me.
My hands shake as I reach inside the bag and put the blade she used on me inside the pocket of my coat before heading
out.
It’s a warm night here, but the breeze is chilling.
I cross the small road that leads to the house and walk toward the main entrance. There’s no sign of life other than the light inside.
It takes me a moment to find a window that’s open and I jump in. Inside, the house is dead quiet.
A small living room. Old furniture. Faded carpets and dust everywhere. She’s just trying to kill her time here before moving to the next place, and killing the next runt she can find.
I hear a faint noise down the hall, from where s Successfully unlocked! Cood. I want her to see me before I kill her in
the same way she killed me.
I move closer to the room she’s in. Light spills out from the open doors before I step into the view.
She immediately looks up from the chair she’s sitting on, a bottle of something shaking in her hand. The moment her eyes land on me, the bottle slips and shatters against the floor.

Her face drains of colour.
Of course, who’d want to see a dead girl standing in front of them? One you knew you killed for sure.
I step inside, shutting the door quietly behind me.
“Hello, Catelyn,” I say.
She rises up from the chair before pushing herself back against the wall.
“You-” she tries. Her voice cracks. “You’re supposed to be dead.”
I smile. It’s not a nice smile. “I was, but not anymore.”
“How did you-” she stammers, but I don’t let her finish.
I move first.
The blade is in my hand before she can blink. I lunge at her, driving it toward her ribs. She dodges barely, scrambling for the broken bottle she dropped on the floor. She grabs the better half of it and swings it wildly.
“If I kill someone, they better stay fucking dead!” She screeches, lunging again.
This time, the glass slices through skin. Blood spills down my wrist, but I barely register the pain.
I slam into her, knocking her back against the wall. We both go crashing to the floor. The broken bottle slides out of her grip, and I roll away, scrambling for the knife.
I have to kill her.
She has to die.
“You shouldn’t have come back!” She screams as I turn.
She kicks me, the force slamming me against the ground on my back. I feel the air whoosh out of my lungs, but I keep a firm hold on the knife.
She moves fast.
In a second, she’s on top of me, grabbing for the knife. I twist, and the knife cuts across her palm.
“Fuck!” She cries out, stumbling back, clutching her hand.
But she’s quick to regain her balance.
She swings the broken bottle again, and it catches on my coat, ripping. My hold on the knife tightens but before I can do anything else, she slams into me.
She’s on top of me again, the broken glass pressing against my throat. Blood wells up and drips down, soaking the carpet. “You can’t kill me,” I tell her, looking at her eyes. “I’ll come back every time you kill me.”
“Let’s see about that.”
She presses the glass against my neck, harder and harder. And then she drives it down. I groan at the feeling growing on my neck, but I waste no time in what I’ve to do next.
I raise my hand and shove the blade up.
Her eyes widen. Her mouth opens, a gurgled cry coming out.
And then the glass clatters to the floor next to me.
She stumbles back, a hand going to her stomach.
Blood pours out from her, staining the peach dress she’s wearing, and it’s quick.
“No…” Her voice is shaky as her gaze flickers over me.
My free hand goes to my throat, where the wound has already healed. Fuck. That’s not good. I didn’t want her to know, but there’s no point in hiding it anymore.
“What are you?” she gasps, blood pouring between her fingers as she looks at the way I rise up from the ground.
I don’t answer her right away. I stand up and step closer. My shoes crunch over the glass that’s on the floor.
“You made me,” I remind her. “The day you killed me, you made something worse.”
Catelyn tries to crawl, dragging herself through the growing pool of blood, leaving a thick smear behind. Her breath trembles. She’s shaking all over. So weak, and so pathetic, like I was once. It wasn’t too long ago.
“You’re–you’re-”
“Different.” I cut her off and bent down. “I’m better, faster and stronger,” I tell her as my eyes look into hers. “I’m better than you, better than Rhea, better than anyone. But I’m also something else. Something more. And it’s thanks to you, Catelyn.”
She opens her mouth, a strangled sound coming out of her lips, but I don’t let her say anything.

My hand goes around her throat and squeezes. Her eyes widen, and she chokes. Her hands come up to grip my arm. To push me away.
But it’s useless.
“You killed an innocent girl. What is before you now is the thing she left behind.” I whisper in her ear before pressing harder.
Her eyes flutter closer and her head rolls back. I let her drop to the ground as she takes her last breath.
And then, she’s gone.
Dead.
For good.
