Before his words could fully settle, Dale, seated just below Eliza on her other side, spoke up in a calm yet pointed tone Lord Mowbay, since you’re well aware that Adeline is now married, it’s not your place as her family to discipline her. She’s after all, my wife.
“And tell me, what exactly did she say that was wrong? My son, the sole heir of the Marquis’s estate, accompanied your daughter back to her family, only to be beaten and poisoned by his cousins. Gabriel paused, his cold gaze sweeping over his two troublemaking sons, who sat stiffly under his scrutiny.
