Eliza snapped out of her thoughts, instinctively shaking her head. “It’s nothing, I…”

His warm breath brushed across her face. When she looked up, her eyes met his, full of concern. Eliza, who had never been this close to a man before, blushed instantly. She quickly turned her head, putting me distance between herself and Nolan.
Eliza stammered, “I’m not sick. I just suddenly remembered something and got lost in thought for a moment.”
Nolan, who had only intended to check her temperature by getting close, now realized just how close they had been. When he saw Eliza’s face flushed bright red, he couldn’t help but grin. He savored the image of her face in his mind before asking, his tone deliberately casual, “What were you thinking about?”
Eliza responded, “It’s just a problem I ran into. If you need help, Ross is here. He can take care of it.”
Ross, who had been quite perceptive, immediately sensed that it was time to help Nolan shine.
A strange feeling told him this was his chance to impress.
So, he slapped his chest proudly, declaring, “If you need anything, just let me know! Whether it’s capturing people, beating them up, or even killing them, the Black Flag soldiers are at your service!”
Eliza couldn’t help but laugh and sigh, “Killing isn’t necessary.”
If she needed someone killed, Tina would handle it herself.
It wouldn’t be good to have this high–ranking officer helping her with that.
Even if she and Nolan were close, that wasn’t something she could ask.
Eliza said, “As for capturing or beating people, that won’t be necessary today. If I need help in the future, I’ll definitely call on Vice General.”
Ross immediately beamed with pride. “I’ll make sure it’s done beautifully for you!”
He was still grinning, pleased with himself.
Nolan, of course, was satisfied with that.
But when Ross turned around, he noticed that Nolan was now smiling at him in a way that didn’t seem entirely friendly. Ross thought, ‘That smile looks… a little dangerous.’
Instantly on alert, Ross quickly backed off and became more subdued.
Nolan nearly rolled his eyes. ‘I knew I shouldn’t have brought him along.’
What was supposed to be a peaceful time between him and Serenity had been interrupted by this clumsy, annoying guy. Just then, Nolan’s eyes flicked over to Diana, who was busy poking at the insects.
‘Ah, right, I forgot she was here too.’
Diana, feeling the sudden pressure, stood silently.
Diana said, “I think I’m a bit hungry. I’ll go check the kitchen.”
Holding Eliza’s insects, she turned and quickly fled the scene.
The courtyard was suddenly left with just Eliza and Nolan.
Eliza looked at Diana’s retreating figure in confusion.
She glanced towards the kitchen and said, “Didn’t we just have lunch? Why are you already hungry?”
Nolan, who had just given Eliza a warning look, clenched his fist against his lips and cleared his throat. “Maybe her appetite just improved. By the way, this tracking parasite… since I don’t know what to feed it, I haven’t fed it since we caught it. You know more about these insects, do you know what it eats?”
Eliza replied, “My insects are fed with poison, but parasites shouldn’t be fed that way. I’ll try feeding it normal food.” Nolan brushed aside everything else and smoothly redirected Eliza’s attention back to the parasite.

As Eliza saw Nolan off, he only let her walk as far as the courtyard gate before stopping, turning to face her.
“Is it… because of those other race people?” Eliza asked, raising an eyebrow.
Nolan nodded, his expression serious. “Those people from the other race are definitely not simple. I suspected there were spies in Hasen City, and it seems I was right. As soon as they arrived, things started getting tense.”
Even the Hall of Eternity, which he had been investigating, had shown signs of activity.
Though it wasn’t obvious yet, he was patient enough to wait it out.
He was curious to see how many people would surface this time.
“I’ll stay in Hasen City to keep an eye on them. I won’t come looking for you, but I’ve left a squad of Black Flag soldiers at the base of the mountain. If you go out, you must take them with you. Understood?”
Nolan’s tone was serious and filled with concern as he urged her.
At times like this, Eliza couldn’t afford to be stubborn and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.”
Seeing Eliza nod obediently, Nolan suppressed the impulse to touch her face, then turned and left Saint Grace Nunnery. As soon as he left, Diana popped her head out from the small kitchen.
She was holding a bowl of hot oatmeal, sipping from it while glancing between the door and Eliza with bright, curious eyes. Diana thought, ‘Wow, could Nolan possibly…? Eliza said, “What are you muttering over there? Come take a look at this tracking parasite. I originally thought it was different from my venomous insects, but after studying it just now, I found it actually bears quite a resemblance to my toxic creatures.”
Eliza turned to see Diana standing in the kitchen doorway, muttering something to herself.
Diana couldn’t exactly explain what she was saying. She finished her oatmeal in one go, put the bowl down, and quickly ran over to Eliza. “I’m coming, I’m coming, let me see.”
Of course, Diana had no idea what a parasite was or what the poison insects were, but Eliza wanted her to learn for self- defense.

Just as they gathered around the stone table to examine the tracking parasite Nolan left behind, the sound of hurried footsteps reached them from outside the courtyard.
“Serenity. Is your friend Diana here?”
Diana called out, “I’m here, I’m here.”
Sarah rushed into the courtyard, holding a blood–stained letter. She hurriedly handed it to Diana, saying, “Diana, you need to see if something has happened at home. A messenger just came, covered in injuries. He gave me this letter and made sure I delivered it to you before collapsing outside.”
