Then, she immediately transferred Emmitt into her space. The energy within the spice, combined with the magical water and the medicine she had prepared, would keep Emmitt alive for a while, but not for long
She needed to get Emmitt back to Hasen City as soon as possible, as only Mary and Lawrence could save him now. After a brief moment, Eliza, carrying the unconscious beggar on her back, stepped out of the ruined church.
“Tina,” she called.
Tina, who had just finished pummeling Rikkert, battered and bruised, immediately stopped and came back upon hearing Eliza’s call. Seeing the beggar on Eliza’s back, though she didn’t see Emmitt, she clearly guessed what had happened.
Eliza gave her a nod and said, “We’ve found who we were looking for. Let’s go.”
Her calm words immediately caught Rikkert’s attention.
He was taken aback when he saw the beggar.
‘What is this? How could it be a beggar? Did I get it wrong? Is this ruined church not where Emmitt is? she thought. Eliza, with a twinge of guilt, had used the beggar to deceive Rikkert. However, she didn’t reveal his face. Once Rikkert saw the figure, she coldly spoke, “Go back and tell your master. I’ve remembered this grudge, and I’ll settle it with him one day.” Rikkert was skilled, and while Tina could defeat him, killing him would take more time.
So, Eliza didn’t want to waste any more time here.
With that, she turned and began walking away with the beggar on her back.
Tina and the Black Flag soldiers immediately followed.
Rikkert was completely unprepared for such an unexpected turn of events.
Thanks to Eliza’s words, he immediately assumed he had made a mistake, found the wrong person, and added unnecessary trouble for his master. He was utterly disoriented.

But when he looked back at the black shape, it had already vanished into the undergrowth.
Wait, were all the insects hiding in the grass like that?
“Retreat! Withdraw from the grass immediately!”
After Rikkert and his men pulled back, two more of his subordinates had been lost.
Furious, Rikkert gritted his teeth in anger.
At this rate, his entire group of killers would be wiped out.
No way, they had to retreat.
Rikkert, with half of his men dead or injured, had no choice but to retreat.
He didn’t dare lie to Korneel, so when he returned, he told him everything that had happened.
Korneel asked, “Did you see the black dot clearly?”
Rikkert shook his head, then hesitated before nodding slightly. “I didn’t see it clearly, but from the way it attacked, it seemed very similar to the parasites we have in our tribe. The woman they called ‘lady‘ must be the one controlling those black dots.”
Korneel narrowed his eyes. “You mean she’s a sorcerer, just like us?”
“I suspect so,” Rikkert nodded.
But before he could say more, Korneel let out a cold laugh. “Rikkert, it seems you’ve become more useless lately. I still have the King Parasite under my control. If she were really a sorcerer, the King Parasite would have sensed her presence the moment she entered the courtyard.”
Even without a parasite nearby, the King Parasite could still detect a sorcerer.
Rikkert, realizing his explanation lacked conviction, felt a sudden pang of regret.
He cursed silently, thinking, “I should have captured one of those creatures when I had the chance.”
But it was too late now.
Korneel furrowed his brow, looking at Rikkert with displeasure before continuing, “You said you didn’t find Emmitt in the ruined church. So why were you so sure he was there?”
“Because before anyone else arrived, I sensed two distinct presences there, one large and one small. I couldn’t have been mistaken.”
Yet, there was no sign of the second presence in the church.
“Gone…” Korneel muttered the word under his breath, his expression suggesting he had suddenly realized something.
