Before Eliza could get close, Nolan instinctively stepped toward her. His gaze landed on the towering figure beside her, and with a raised brow, he asked, “Is this one of your finds from Fort County?”
Eliza smiled and replied, “You could say that. He used to serve Korneel, a foreign king. His strength is terrifying, but his mind is quite childlike. Korneel controlled him with a parasite, but after I removed decided to keep him around.”
“Rudie, greet His Highness.”
Rudie tilted his head and, with a booming voice and a goofy grin, said, “Okay! Hi, Your Highness! Hi, Sister! Hi, Rudie!”
Completely oblivious to proper etiquette, Rudie could only repeat the word “great.” Seeing this, Eliza thought to herself, ‘I’ll need to teach Rudie some manners later. Can’t have him embarrassing himself in front of the king‘
The moment Nolan heard Rudie speak, he instantly understood what Eliza meant by “childlike.”
“You plan to keep him by your side?” Nolan asked.
“Yes. What do you think, Your Highness?” Eliza felt a bit uneasy about bringing Rudie into the palace, given his ties to Korneel.
To her surprise, Nolan nodded without hesitation. “Of course.”
“Eliza, you’re the Holy Lady of Bortenland. It’s only right for you to have more people protecting you. Honestly, you’re too modest–just keeping Shadow Seven around. If it were anyone else, they would’ve already asked the king for several squads of guards.”
Ever since Eliza became the Holy Lady, she’d been unwavering in her duties. Back in Hasen City, she copied scriptures every single day.
And every time she left the city, she headed straight to disaster–stricken areas–offering aid, praying for blessings, and helping the people.
She’d poured her heart into this. For someone who grew up as a pampered young lady in the Duke’s estate, Eliza had done more than most so–called ‘officials‘ could ever dream of.
Take the Malones, for example–the magistrate and the governor. They were nothing but parasites, preying on the people and draining them dry.
Compared to them, Eliza was truly remarkable.
She deserved the title of Holy Lady.
So, it was her right to keep someone by her side.
Even if she hadn’t brought the person today, Nolan would’ve taken care of it for her the moment he found out.
Nolan knew exactly what was troubling Eliza.
But in his eyes, it wasn’t an issue. Even if the king learned about the creature’s origins, it wouldn’t matter. As long as everything was out in the open, there’d be no problem–especially since the creature was simple–minded and harmless.
Nolan’s words were like a soothing balm, easing Eliza’s worries and lifting a weight off her shoulders.
With Nolan by her side and the towering creature lumbering behind, Eliza stepped into the Imperial Palace.

A graceful figure, accompanied by several maids and eunuchs, strolled leisurely toward the queen’s chambers.
A sharp announcement from outside pierced the cozy stillness of the room, shattering the fragile warmth like glass.
Diana placed her brush down with deliberate calm, her expression cooling. She cast a quick, icy glance at the king, whose awkwardness was plain to see, before turning away from the painting table.
“Looks like His Majesty just can’t resist Lady Raisa, can he? Even with the Prince Regent and Holy Lady visiting, he still had to summon her,” Diana remarked, her tone sharp and biting.
There was a time when Diana had dreamed of what might have been.
