After all, it was his first meal back at the Duke’s estate, and he had plans to “bond” with his family over dinner.

Matthew dragged Rafe back to the Duke’s estate, dumped him at the front gate, and walked off without another word.
As soon as Matthew left, the steward quickly made his escape as well.
This one was truly a handful–a real troublemaker.
Better to leave it for the Duke himself to deal with.
“Hey, wait! Where is everyone? Why is everyone rushing off like they’ve got somewhere better to be? Matthew? Is anyone here? No one even bothered to tell me where I’m supposed to stay!”
Before Rafe could even process what was happening, he looked around and found that there wasn’t a single person in sight.
It was like they were avoiding the plague.
Rafe scoffed in disdain. “Fine, fine. If no one’s going to help, I’ll just wander around and figure it out myself.”
With that, he picked a random direction and strolled off, acting like he knew exactly where he was going.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the estate, Matthew had already returned to his courtyard.
He was packing up, preparing to sneak out of the city with his men after dark to handle another task assigned by his father.
At the same time, he seemed to be waiting for something.
Not long after, a servant came rushing in, looking flustered.
“Master, something’s wrong!”
Matthew immediately stopped what he was doing and turned around. “What happened? Where did he go?”
The servant, tasked with keeping an eye on Rafe, stammered nervously, “He went to…” “Matthew, what are you snooping around for? Got something you want to ask? Why not ask me directly?”
Successfully unlocked!
Before the servant could finish, a hand landed on his shoulder from behind, and a sinister voice interrupted.
Matthew froze for a moment, then frowned deeply.

He had planned to humiliate Rafe and test him, which was why he left him at the estate’s entrance without a word upon returning.
But who would’ve thought this guy was like a stubborn leech, impossible to shake off? “What are you doing here?” Matthew asked coldly.
Rafe grinned mockingly. “What else? I’m here to give you the fight you’ve been asking for, Matthew.”
Rafe stood at the doorway, smiling smugly.
He leaned casually against the servant, using him like a makeshift pillar, his bony hand gripping the servant’s neck tightly, as though he were strangling Matthew himself.
Back at the Padilla family’s gate, it wasn’t the right place to start trouble.
But now that he was inside the Duke’s estate, the first thing on his list was to deal with Matthew.
Seeing Matthew’s face darken instantly, Rafe’s smile grew even wider. “Honestly, I wasn’t planning to start a fight on my first day back at the estate. But then again, your mouth stinks worse than a sewer, Matthew. If I don’t shut it today, I won’t enjoy my homecoming…”
Before Rafe could finish, Matthew threw a punch straight at him. The blow landed hard on his face, sending him reeling to the side, and the servant who had been standing nearby nearly got caught in the strike as well.
Terrified, the servant let out a yelp and bolted the moment Rafe loosened his grip, not daring to look back.
Matthew glared coldly at Rafe, who remained motionless, his fury barely contained as he sneered, “Don’t call me Matthew. You’re nothing but a bastard. You don’t deserve to call me that!”
Rafe slowly turned his head back, raising a hand to wipe the corner of his mouth.
When he saw the blood on his fingers, his eyes turned murderous. Fixing his gaze on Matthew, he uttered just one chilling sentence.
“You’re dead today!”
