Just as the tip of the blade was about to graze Matthew’s throat, hurried footsteps suddenly echoed from outside.

The voice belonged to Gabriel.
Trailing behind him was a servant who had managed to escape Rafe’s grasp earlier.
The servant must have realized the fight between Matthew and Rafe had escalated dangerously, so he ran off to get help.

By the time Gabriel stepped inside, the scene had completely changed. Rafe sprawled on the ground, looking helpless, with Matthew’s hands wrapped around his neck as if trying to strangle him.
