Chapter 11
The God actually heard my prayer.
It gave me a second chance to choose differently.
This time, I completely forgot about Jackson Gray.
I didn’t remember I once passionately kissing him under rose–covered trellises, didn’t remember him carrying me on his back for miles, tenderly calling me “sweetheart.”
Nor did I remember the coldness and pain.
Jackson Gray became edited footage from my life story, completely erased from my timeline.
I couldn’t describe the feeling. There was a certain emptiness in my heart, with fine, dense pain shooting upward.
I felt lost and pulled away from Tyler’s embrace.
Tyler grew more anxious.
“Victoria baby, are you angry with me?”
I put on a stern face to scare him.
“Yes, you lied to me about something so important for three whole years.”
Tyler smiled bitterly.
“I was wrong.”
“I’ve loved you for too long with no opportunity. I admit that when I learned about your memory loss, the selfish part of me overcame my better judgment.”
“I was greedy.”
“I took advantage of your situation.”
Chapter 11
Tyler stumbled back half a step, leaning against the door.
He lowered his gaze, his long eyelashes casting shadows beneath his eyes, looking lonely and fragile.
“Victoria-”
Tyler clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white.
“I was too selfish.”
Tyler was still wearing his white coat from the hospital. He looked exhausted, like he might fall apart.
I immediately gave in.
“Hey, that’s not what I meant!”
“Don’t be sad.”
I hugged Tyler, burying my face against his neck, kissing his chin.
I only meant to comfort him.
Somehow, things progressed in an indescribable direction.
Tyler effortlessly picked me up and pressed me against the door, repeatedly calling my name in a low voice.
His white coat was half pulled off, hanging loosely from his shoulders.
He wore a black t–shirt underneath, revealing a section of his arms with visible veins, firmly supporting me.
Half of him, noble and sacred, saving lives.
The other half of him, pure raw desire.
I blushed at the sight, my legs too weak to stand.
Tyler carried me to the couch, neither of us willing to separate for even a moment.
Chapter 11
Only after I was completely exhausted, my mind flashing white several times, did Tyler finally stop with a satisfied expression.
I lay on the couch catching my breath.
Suddenly I remembered.
“Hey, how do you know Jackson Gray? When I went to the hospital, was he always with me?”
“Then how did you get a chance to confess to me? Something doesn’t add up.”
Tyler was silent for a moment, then handed me his phone.
“Victoria, since we’re being honest, I’ll tell you everything.”
“My father and the Gray family are old friends. My parents divorced when I was young, and I grew up with my mom.”
“Every winter and Summer break, I’d return to New York. Jackson and I have known each other since childhood.”
I stared wide–eyed at the bank account numbers on his phone.
“One, ten, hundred, thousand, million… damn!”
“How are you both billionaires, and I’m the only ordinary one? That’s not fair!”
Tyler laughed.
“It’s all yours. Everything is yours.”
“I told you before that I had money, but you never believed me.”
I was stunned.
When Tyler had suggested buying a wedding home, he chose the most luxurious location–a 3,000–square–foot apartment.
I had scolded him severely.
I knew his parents were divorced and his mother was just an ordinary high school teacher.

Chapter 11
Tyler hadn’t been out of university for many years, and doctors‘ salaries weren’t high in the beginning. How much could he have possibly saved?
It wasn’t enough.
Harris City’s real estate was expensive. A decent three–bedroom apartment would cost at least $500,000.
I had forced Tyler to pinch pennies with me.
These three years of hardship had always been self–imposed.
I angrily smacked Tyler’s thigh.
“Then why are you telling me now?”
Tyler caught my hand.
“Brandon said you were ecstatic about receiving a million dollars.”
“Jackson is so wealthy, I was afraid-”
He paused, then looked at me seriously.
“Victoria, anything he has, I have too.”
“I’ll give you everything I have.”
“Stay with me, please?”
I acted coy.
“We’ll see how you behave–hey, what are you doing? Let me go.”
Tyler grabbed my ankle and pulled me beneath him.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to see how I behave?”
