Chapter 4
Felicity’s POV
What was meant to be a compliment sounded more like a veiled insult.
I let out a self–deprecating chuckle and gestured for them to leave.
Now that Dorian had cleared his name, he seemed much more at ease. He sat by my bedside, taking my hand in his, and spoke with sincerity.
“Felicity, you know you’re the only one I’ll ever love. No other woman could ever take your place.”
I responded with a quiet hum, ignoring the disappointment in his eyes as I withdrew my hand from
his grasp.
As if suddenly remembering something, Dorian quickly added,
“Felicity, I have to leave tomorrow for another pack’s Alpha training, so I won’t be able to stay with you. But my phone will be on for you 24/7. If you miss me, just call.”
His affectionate tone was flawless, leaving no trace of deception.
Suppressing the unease creeping up inside me, I nodded in acknowledgment. “Safe travels.”
I caught the fleeting guilt in his eyes before he spoke again, his voice tinged with a hint of grievance.
“But I’ll miss you so much. Even if it’s just for a day, I don’t want to be apart from you for even a
second.”
He sighed dramatically before adding, “Once we adopt a child, maybe we should just hand the pack over to them. That way, I wouldn’t have to keep running around, leaving you behind.”
If I didn’t already know he was actually leaving to hold a mating ceremony with Rosalie for the next seven days, I might have been moved by those words.
In the end, Dorian placed a lingering kiss on my forehead before reluctantly leaving the hospital
room.
The moment he walked out the door, I left the hospital as well. After packing my belongings at home, I headed to Moon Lake alone, severed our mate bond, and destroyed his mark–enduring the searing pain as I did.
When I returned to the packhouse, I left a bond–breaking agreement on the coffee table in the living room. Then, without looking back, I boarded a flight to Vespera.

Before takeoff, 1 prepared a parting gift for him.

Once the plane was in the air, I deleted and blocked all of Dorian’s contacts, severing every last tie
between us.
As I gazed out the window, watching the town I had spent over thirty years in grow smaller and smaller, I finally felt the weight pressing on my chest disappear.
Dorian, we will never meet again.
The next morning, I arrived safely in Vespera. I booked a small inn online and settled in.
Dorian’s POV
Standing in front of the church, an inexplicable sense of unease crept over me.
Rosalie and I were about to have our mating ceremony, yet my emotions were conflicted.
“You shouldn’t have betrayed our mate.” My wolf, Rig, growled. “We need her.”
“I didn’t abandon her,” I argued. “I just found us another mate.”
“A pack can only have one Alpha, but why can’t it have two Lunas?” I reasoned with him. “One I love, and the other to bear my children. The pack needs a Luna who can give them heirs.”
Rig let out a low, disapproving snarl.
“You better not regret this.”
His words unsettled me, but I pushed the thoughts aside as I stepped into the church. Just before crossing the threshold, I mind–linked the pack doctor.
“How is Luna?”
The doctor responded promptly, “Alpha, ever since you left, Luna has been resting. She told us not to disturb her and said she would call for us when she wakes up.”
“Good.”
With that reassurance, I finally allowed myself to relax and entered the church.
But the moment I took my first step inside, last night’s dream came rushing back.
I had dreamed that Felicity told me she was severing our mate bond. The nightmare jolted me awake, and it wasn’t until I mind–linked the doctor that I was able to calm down and fall back
asleep.

That same uneasiness surged back, making my gut twist with apprehension.
Standing at the altar, surrounded by pack members watching our mating ceremony, the elder stood between Rosalie and me.
“Alpha, do you confirm your decision to make omega Rosalie Alden the second Luna of the Silverclaw Pack?”
“Are you sure, Alpha?”
I looked at Rosalie, dressed in a pure white wedding gown, and forced myself to shake off the nagging doubts.
“I-”
Before I could finish my sentence, a piece of paper fluttered into my hands.
Frowning, I unfolded it and felt my breath catch in my throat.
It was a bond–breaking agreement.
Felicity wanted to severe our mate bond?
