Wrath of the Lycan king
Raphael’s POV
The warm steam from the bath hadn’t quite settled the storm brewing inside me. I expected to find Ava resting peacefully in my room, safe from any more harm. But when I stepped out, the bed was empty, and the unsettling feeling I’d been trying to ignore took hold. Something was wrong.
A knock on the door broke through my thoughts, loud and Insistent. Only Gemma would knock like that. If it were Caleb, he’d have barged in after the second knock.
I quickly dressed and opened the door, finding Gemma standing there, looking worried.
“My king,” she greeted with a bow of her head, her voice unusually tense.
“What is it, Gemma?” I asked, my brow furrowed, the unease in my chest deepening.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, but there’s some commotion in the hall… it involves Landon, your nephew, and the Lady you rescued yesterday…
I didn’t let her finish. The moment she mentioned Ava, my senses sharpened. I concentrated on her scent, inhaling deeply to track her down. It was faint but there, mixed with something metallic. Blood. My blood ran cold.
Mate is in trouble,” Grey growled in my mind, stirring with anger.
Without another word, I followed Ava’s scent, the faint whiff of her distress fueling my urgency. My muscles coiled tightly as I moved through the hall. I could already feel the fury rising, threatening to explode the moment I found her.
The closer I got, the more people gathered, their eyes wide with intrigue and fear. I could hear murmurs among them, but I ignored them all, following the scent of blood, sweat, and fear. Then I saw them.
The lady that Landon introduced as the next Luna stood in the crowd, her arms folded with a smug expression, and next to her was another woman, obviously her sister, no doubt because of the resemblance, But my focus snapped to the scene unfolding in front of
them.

Ava, my Ava, was bleeding from her lip, and Landon had his hand wrapped around her throat, fury etched into his face as he flung
her into the wall with brutal force.
“I’m going to kill you, slut!” Landon spat, his voice dripping with pure venom.
My vision blurred with red as Grey pushed me forward, snarling inside me. I couldn’t contain the rage boiling within.
Mate is in danger!” Grey roared, propelling me forward with primal force.
I was there in an instant, standing between Ava and Landon, my presence imposing over him like a shadow of death. Being a Lycan wolf meant I was much larger, towering over Landon’s measly six feet. My blood boiled at the sight of Ava’s blood on his hands.
“What is going on here?” I demanded, my voice vib through the air, cold and lethal.
Landon, the fool, had the audacity to try and speak, but his voice faltered as I glared down at him.
“Uncle, I was just… talking to Ava
stammered, eyes wide with fear. “She’s… she’s a whore. Everyone knows it.”
Each word out of his mouth chipped away at my measly restraint. I didn’t want to hurt him, not for Theresa’s sake, but Grey ha other plans.

“You don’t talk to my woman like that,” Grey growled through me, my control slipping as I grabbed Landon by the throat, lifting him off the ground with ease, I squeezed, watching the terror flood his eyes as he gasped for air. I could hear the crowd gasp in shock, but I didn’t care. The hoy needed to understand what happens when you harm what’s mine.
Grey! I warned, forcing myself to rein in the beast before I killed him. With effort, I regained control and threw Landon aside like the trash he was. He crashed into the ground, gasping and wheezing but I didn’t spare him a second glance.
Instead, I turned to Ava, kneeling beside her gently, careful not to aggravate her injuries. She was still stunned, her eyes unfocused from the pain.
“Gemma, get me the pack healers,” I barked over my shoulder as I scoped Ava up in my arms.
“My King, let me carry her,” Gemma offered, but I shook my head.
“No, I’ve got her. Just get the healers.”
Ava mumbled softly in my arms, her voice barely audible. “I’m… fine. Please, put me down…”
“No,” I said firmly, my tone leaving no room for argument. “You may have great healing abilities, but I’m not taking any chances. The healers will check you over.”
She didn’t protest further. I carried her back to my room with urgency, aware of every single breath she took, every tremor in her body. She didn’t weigh much in my arms, but the responsibility I felt for her was heavier than anything I’d ever experienced.
Once inside, I laid her down carefully on the bed, my heart still racing from the confrontation with Landon.
Moments later, Gemma returned with a healer, an older woman who looked both competent and nervous in my presence.
“My King, you called for me,” the healer said with a bow.
“Yes,” I gestured toward Ava. “Check her.”
The healer approached Ava, her hands moving over her ribs, checking for injuries. I stood there, watching her every move, barely containing the urge to rip into Landon again for what he’d done.
After a few tense moments, the healer turned to me, her expression one of awe. “My King, there are a few broken bones, but they’re already healing rapidly. I’ve never seen a werewolf with such swift healing abilities. She’ll be fine in no time.”
Relief flooded through me, but it was laced with something else. Why was she healing that of the Royal Family’s own. Interesting.

“Get the Alpha here,” I ordered Gemma through our mind–link.
“Yes, my King,” she replied and left immediately.
“Is she alright?” I asked the healer, though I already knew the answer
“Yes, my King. She’ll be fully healed soon.”
“Good. You may leave. The healer quickly excused herself, clearly eager to escape the tension–filled room.
Once she was gone, I turned my full attention to Ava. “Why did you leave the room?” I asked, unable to mask the frustration in my vaice.
Ava winced slightly, her eyes avoiding mine. “I’m sorry… Raphael. I thought I was giving you privacy.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “I didn’t ask for privacy, Ava. Besides, once we get to Lystra, we’ll be waking up beside each other every day.”
Her eyes widened slightly, disbelief flickering across her face. “Oh…”
“How are you feeling?” I asked, more softly this time.
She flexed her arms experimentally, then stood up from the bed. Her movements were steady, and the healer was right, her injuries were already healing. It was remarkable.
“I’m okay now,” she said with a small, sheepish smile.
Before I could respond, there was a knock at the door. I knew it was Gemma, and Charles, the Alpha of Moon Stone Pack.
“Come in,” I called coldly, ready to deal with the consequences of Landon’s actions. It was time to remind the Alpha and his son who
held the real power here.
