Chapter13
Again I was ignored.
We stopped in front of two wooden doors, beautiful designs on each of the tall oak doors.
“Don’t ask questions yet…I’ll explain later. I promise.”
He said as he kissed my hand and walked into the room.
The room certainly didn’t do the rest of the palace justice, while the palace was something you only read about in fairy tale stories…the room was dark and felt like a horror story waiting to happen.
“Come with me.”
Michaelangelo whispered as he towed me towards the bed where a man was resting.
I was too busy judging the room I hadn’t even noticed there were others present.
I blushed a deep scarlet and looked down at my feet as my mate steered me towards the bed where he let my hand drop.
“Father.”
He walked over to the man’s side and grabbed his hand.
Father?
This was where Michaelangelo grew up?
“My son…you’ve returned, who is this?”
The old man asked as he looked over to me,
“My name is Rose…I’m Mike’s mate.”
I said.
“Mate? Michael I thought I had raised you better…come dear sit.”
A woman who I presumed was his mother said as she patted the spot next to her.
“How long ago did you two meet?”
She asked me, I sighed and counted the days in my head.
“We met at my pack’s annual ball a little more than 3 weeks ago.”

She smiled and cupped my cheek.
“I can tell you’re going to make a wonderful queen.”
Queen? Surely she wasn’t talking about me.
“Uh…”
Michaelangelo cleared his throat and I looked over to him, he gestured for me to go and sit next to
him.
As I as about to sit on the chair next to him he pulled me onto his lap and I sighed feeling self conscious about being in a shirt and robe.
“So the people I met at your house?” I questioned quietly.
“They’re real, I use their pack as a decoy.” He nodded.
“Who are they?” I asked.
“They’re a pack that conceals the portal we use to go back and forth to Ganandor. I’m not their Alpha, just their prince.”
I shook my head, trying to process everything.
Where was Max? Before I could ask, Max came running through the doors.
“Forgive me for intruding your majesties but…another raid is happening in the North Villages.”
My head whipped around to Michaelangelo who kept his face neutral.
“Let’s discuss this outside.” Michaelangelo said as he stood and brought me into the hallway.
“We’ve gotten more and more calls to aid from the North than ever before in the last three months. We’re going out there now but the last time someone was out there it didn’t end well.”
“Take me, I want to see.” Michaelangelo said before looking to me and opening his mouth.
“Oh no, you’re not leaving me here in a creepy dimly lit room and your parents 2.0. I’m coming with you.” I crossed my arms over my chest and he chuckled.
“I was going to say we need to get you some new clothes.”
He said as he handed me a thin dress with sleeves and a warm cloak along with a pair of riding shoes.
“Where did you get these?” I asked.

Max intervened, “I stole it.”
I walked into the nearest bathroom and changed as fast as I could.
I walked out and immediately was pulled into Michaelangelo’s side.
“Ready to go? We’ve got the horses ready. Can you ride?” He asked.
“Yes I can, Jack had me training and I’ve ridden on horses before.” I nodded.
I mounted a horse Max had provided for me.
“Let’s go.”
We approached the village slowly, it was drizzling slightly, putting the monsterous flames that covered the village out.
We dismounted and continued on foot, Max handed me a small dagger which I kept close to me. Michaelangelo stayed near me, watching out for anything suspicious.
Max covered his nose because of the foul stench of flesh but I walked on. There was a small house, slowly it’s flames were extinguishing but a good amount of it was still on fire and a voice inside
called out.
“Help! Please I’m stuck!”
Without thinking I ran towards the house.
“Please! Someone!”
I followed their voice until I found him.
A woman’s arms wrapped around him in a tight grip, dead. Blood flowing down her temple…tomahawked.
I reached out for him.
“Who are you?”
He asked as he coughed through the smoke.
I didn’t answer but instead grabbed him from her arms and ran out of the house.
Once again in the clutches of safety I took off the winter cloak and wrapped it around the little boy’s figure.
“Are you an angel?”

He questioned.
I shook my head but still didn’t answer.
Something had to be done about this and soon, otherwise this kingdom was going to die as Max
said.
