Chapter 19

You know I cannot allow that, Rhea You’re a runt and there’s no point in getting trained when you can barely shift or fight in the first place. The alpha says without an emotion

Please let me try. I’m not really looking to do it for future or become a fighter for that matter. It’s justI just want to learn and control shifting and fighting. I know I can do that and I won’t be troubling anyone down there. No one at all.I say, standing a long distance from hum while my hands are clasped together and fingers crossed

He stays quiet for a moment and then looks down at some papers before meeting my eyes again

an

Tm afraid I cannot permit for that. There’ll be a lot of complaints if I allow a runt for training and knowing you, you wouldn’t be able to control et neigti in your wolf much, would you!”

The

training is for. isn’t it?”

That is not the point, RheaHe sets his hand on the desk and says, his voice a little dangerous. I don’t speak after that and stay silent. But he does. Perhaps, I can allow you within the training grounds, with the other trainees for a couple days. And this will be very limited. It’s not at capacity right now and with the holidays coming, there aren’t going to be a lot of pack members on the training grounds so in that time you can practice. But once the holidays are over, there’ll be no access for you. Is that clear?”

Thank you so much I incline my head and say quickly

Avoid creating conflicts with other wolves when you’re there,he says before turning his attention back on the papers in front of him. TI send a messenger out in a bit to Lucas who’ll pass it on to allow you in training for a few days”

Thank youI whisper again before taking my leave from his office

My heart jumps a little and I give my fists a little triumphant shake. I don’t have a reason to complain about the decision, I know that. I’m still not sure how I’ve managed to put in a word about my training but I have finally done it

Of course I wouldn’t be a warrior in a day or two, but it’s something. It’s something that makes me feel happy inside

Being a warrior is a dream of mine but I know well it’s nearly impossible. But getting an opportunity to train my wolf, even for a few days, is enough to thrill me and I’d happily work on that

Slowly and steadily, I have to learn. It has to help me in some wayeventually

A glimmer of hope begins to build in my chest

Once the messenger delivers the information to Lucas, I’m allowed into the training grounds. There’s a woman there who’s incharge of the shewolves in the other side of the training grounds. There’s no mix up with the males and females, which

I’m thankful for

The woman. Elisha, is one of the oldest in the training grounds who started at age of five when there wasn’t any training at all. That was four decades ago and here she is now. Teaching, coaching, helping the others

When she hears about me she pulls up another part of the field and gives me simple instructions about how to control shifting and gain better control over it and all I have to do is follow them

The aren’t many shewolves here today. Just as the Alpha mentioned, with the holidays coming up, a lot of wolves don’t tend to train in those weeks. The numbers at the training grounds drop down significantly every year during the winter season Which I’m glad for

Chapter 19

Some of the girls whispers amongst each other when they hear about my arrival, but I don’t hear. I keep to myself

I’m just here for two hours and then I’m back inside the pack house, doing what I’m meant to do. For a long time, I can’t stop smiling Smiling like an idiot at everything

Are your shifts painful?” Elisha asks me alone. I nod at her and she continues, Well, runts tend to have far more painful shifts than the rest of us. It’s mainly because your woll never reaches the final growth. However, by embracing the wolf slowly, you will begin to experience the change gradually. As long as you slow it down, it shouldn’t be as painful as you’ve experienced them before. It gets easier by time.”

Hearing her gives me some sort of relief and by that, I mean I won’t actually die from shift pain

This shouldn’t be too bad. I don’t know, but I hope so

When was the last time you shifted?”

A couple weeks back.” I say, not aware of that day at all. It’s all a blur in my head

t to

“A couple weeksElisha scoffs a little and pats my back. Alright, there’s no limit

the amount of time you can

you can shift for or can train yourself in this form. It’s in your hands, I’m sure you can do that on your own. You just have to try and shift whenever possible. To master that is the hardest skill that most people struggle to perfect.”

I will. I’ll try.”

A smile appears on her face, Good. I won’t go on tough with you today, so there’s no need for you to stick here.” She glances back at the other girls that are doing all sorts of things, How about I see you early in the morning? It’s far better than aftemoons, would suit you much better.”

“Sure, I’ll come in the morningI nod at her quickly, taking whatever I’m getting. This is the only deal in months that’s gone

my way

With that out of the way, I leave the training grounds earlier than I expected and headed into the pack house

When I tell Ethel about what happened, she’s more than surprised and even a little bit impressed with what I had gotten done today

“To be honest,” She says with a little frown. I thought I was wasting my breath and time on a dead mule. Good to know you’re not.”

Yeah. I can’t wait to get better at it,”

Don’t look too excited there. The girls will get jealous.”

Tm just being hopeful, that’s all.I admit sheepishly

I know, I know.”
