“Okay,” he says, and he moves off of me and stands up.
I sit up and cover myself with my arms, my checks flushing. I feel ashamed, embarrassed, and scared.
“I’m sorry.”
“There’s nothing to be sorry for,” he says, his voice soft. “It’s alright. Don’t be afraid.”

He hands me the sweater that rests atop of the bed and I quickly slip it on without another thought. I can sense the shift in his demeanor, and it’s confusing. I’m not sure how to read it.
“You’re not angry?” I ask, and my voice shakes.
“No. I’m not.”
I look at him and see that he’s not lying. He’s being honest. I can see it in his eyes.
“There’s nothing to be angry about, little wolf. I’m a patient man,” he fills up another glass with whiskey from across the bed before turning to me. “As long as you’re mine, I’ll wait. And you are, so I don’t mind waiting for you.”
He takes a sip of his drink and I watch him, wondering what he means by that. What does he mean that he’ll wait? Wait for what? What is it that he’s waiting for?
“What do you mean by waiting?”
“You’ll come to understand one day,” he says, and his expression changes to something more serious. “But not now. Now it’s getting late. You’ve to be up early, so change and get some sleep.”
I stare at him, not sure if I should ask him again or just let it be. It’s not something that I’m ready to hear right now, and I’m not sure if I’m ready to know what he means by that. Because the last time he told me he was waiting for something–it’s gone now. He rejected me. That bond has been broken. There’s no waiting for it anymore.
Unless he’s waiting for something else.
He disappears into the bathroom before I ask anymore questions. As soon as he’s gone, I rush up on my feet and quickly run toward the closet where the other bags are. His bags. I unzip and dig in, taking out any shirt I can get my hands on.
There’s no way I’m sleeping in a sweater tonight. No way.
It’s already hot in here, and if I don’t get out of these clothes, I’m going to die from heat exhaustion. I pull out a black shirt and remove my clothes quickly before putting it on. It’s a little big on me, but it’s comfortable and it’s clean and it goes past the middle of my thighs. So, it’s perfect.
I’m pulling the covers over myself when I hear the bathroom door open. I glance up and see Aron walking out. I can’t look away, not even for a moment. My eyes are on him, and his eyes are on me.
There’s not much he can see on me, considering I’m covering myself with the covers, but he does get glimpses.
“You’re wearing my shirt.”
I try not to act so obvious, “Oh, I didn’t know.” I give him a shy smile, and he shakes his head, a small grin on his lips.

“It’s fine. Keep it,” With that, he walks off to the other side of the room to switch off the wall lights, “But you do need to move to the other side. I don’t sleep well on the left.”
“Okay.”
I shuffle under the sheets, and take the other side of the bed. It’s a big bed. And while it does make me a little nervous to share it with him, I don’t complain. I’m too tired for that.
The lights go off, and I see his shadow move across the room. There’s a little light coming from outside, mostly from the fireplace in the other room, but it’s enough for me to make out his shape. He takes off his shirt and I can’t help but stare.
He pulls the covers, and gets in beside me. My heart pounds inside my chest. It’s beating so fast that I can hear it in my ears. I close my eyes, and try to calm down.
My thoughts run wild, but I’ve to find a way to stop them.
“I’ve never slept with anyone before,” I confess, and my voice comes out in a soft whisper.
“I know, you haven’t.”
“Have you?” I ask, wondering if he’ll tell me.
“A handful of times. But it was different. Nothing like this.”
“Oh,” I say. “I’m sorry.”
“For what?”
“For asking,” I answer, not really sure if I should’ve asked in the first place.
“Don’t be sorry. You’ve nothing to be sorry for. You can ask me anything. I don’t mind.”
“Okay,” I say, feeling a little more at ease.
There’s a silence that follows, and it’s not uncomfortable. It’s just quiet. I’m not sure what to say next or if I should say anything at all. So, I decide to keep silent. He doesn’t seem to mind, either.
“Go to sleep,” he says, his voice soft, and I nod.
I turn on my side and face him. He’s laying on his back, his arm under his head. His eyes are closed and I can’t help but
stare.
“Goodnight,” I say.
“Goodnight, little wolf.”
I close my eyes, and try to fall asleep.
The next morning, I wake early as do Aron. He’s gone for a while, arranging things while leaving to get ready for the ceremony and reception. There’s something in motion, but I don’t know what it is. He told me strictly to not leave the room under any circumstances until he returned.
The ceremony is meant to start around three in the afternoon and the reception is set to start at six in the evening and go on for the entire night.
The collar is back on my neck, as if it never left, and I hate it. I hate it even more than the first time it was on my neck. And I can’t find a way to unclasp it even if I want too.
Midday, there’s a knock on my door and it startles me. At first, I think of remaining quiet and letting it go unanswered. But

whoever is on the other side is persistent and knocks again before letting herself in.
“Ethel,” I heave in. “I got scared,” I say in relief.
“Oh,” She steps inside and closes the door behind. “Why would you get scared? Did something happen?”
“Just-”

I take her hand and take her into the bedroom. The walls are too thin of the room outside. Anyone can hear in if they want to and Aron strictly told me to not talk to anyone.
“After the ceremony is over, you need to leave this place.”
“What?” She raises a brow at me. “What are you talking about?”
“Just, just leave from here. Go anywhere else. Something’s going to happen. I don’t know when, and I don’t know what or how. But it will. And it’s not going to be good.”
She seems more concerned now. “Are you telling me to leave the pack house?”
“Yes,” I reply, and she looks away, her expression changing. “It’s going to be bad, Ethel.”
“How do you know? Did he tell you? Is that the reason you’re here with Alpha Aron?”
I nod.
She takes a step back and breathes. It doesn’t take long for her to realize what’s going to go down. She knows it. I know it. He’s going to take over the pack, kill the Alpha and destroy everyone. Everything.
“Are you are you doing okay?” She asks me, her eyes falling on the collar around my neck. “Is he treating you right?”
“I’m fine,” I nod again. “It’s not that bad. This is just a display.” I touch the leather around my neck. “Just so that no one suspects anything.”
“He’s really–is he really planning this?”
“I’m sure. You have to leave. Promise me when time comes that you will leave and not look back.”
She nods, “I promise, but what about you? What about your family? What will happen to you after this?” I can see the worry on her face, and it hurts me.”
My mind whirls at her questions. I haven’t thought of the future at all. J’haven’t planned anything. I’m only going with whatever is happening. I’m not sure what’s going to happen to me. I don’t even know where I’ll go after this. But I’m sure it will be with Aron.
He won’t ever let me out of his sight.
I know that now.
“I’ll go back with him,” I tell her, and I’m certain.
“And you’ll be safe?”
“I think so. He won’t hurt me–not intentionally.” I say, trying to assure her and myself at the same time.
She looks back at the door and licks her lips before nodding. “Okay. I’ll see you at the ceremony then. I’ll have to go deal with Catelyn for now. She has a lot of demands for someone who’s going to be imprisoned.”
I try not to react to that, even when I want to. Though, I don’t think she’s going to be imprisoned. Aron won’t do that to her.

He’ll kill her. I could tell that from his face when I saw it when I mentioned her name to him and what she had done.
When Ethel leaves, I resume getting ready. The only thing I’m wearing to the ceremony is a simple dark red dress that reaches a little past my knees. There are no straps and the collar around my neck is the only accessory I’m allowed to wear. My shoes are black flats and my hair is straight and kept open.
I don’t want to do anything with it or with my face.
Soon, it’s almost time and I’m waiting for Aron to return. He’s still not here. I’m getting a little worried now.
But I shouldn’t worry. It’s not going to help me. I know he’ll come. He’s probably just busy with the arrangements.
It’s ten minutes to the ceremony that I hear a knock on the door. It’s not Aron’s. No. He wouldn’t knock.
I open the door anyway. A little.
“Aron told me to get you to the ceremony.” It’s Kovas. He’s alone.
“Where is he?”
“Busy. He’s going to be there soon, don’t worry about it.” He tells me and I nod. I close the door behind me and follow him through the halls. “He told me to get you seated and that he’ll find you soon.” He turns to look at me as we walk. “You’re not going to run away, are you?”
“No,” I answer. “Why would I?”
“I’m just checking, you know. Last minute jitters and all.” He gives me a smile. “Did you tell anyone?” he asks me a moment later.
I flick my gaze at him and shake my head, “No.” Though, it’s a lie, but I know that Ethel won’t tell anyone. She won’t.
He only gives me a nod.
We walk through the halls that are filled with decorations and guests. A lot of pack wolves that I recognize. Most recognize me as well. They can still smell the runt. It’s not been too long. I know they are wondering why I’m back here, and especially why I’m wearing a collar and following another wolf.
But none of them ask.
The ceremony is held outside, in the gardens behind the pack house. The garden has been arranged and set up, the seats are filled with hundred’s of guests. It’s still a little unbelievable that Alpha Elias‘ getting married to Catelyn. I didn’t think would ever happen.
The place looks nice, though. It’s well arranged. Beautiful. The weather is good too, not too hot or cold.
There’s a path I walk on that leads toward the ceremony grounds. It’s a few good steps away from the pack house. I glance at Kovas who’s walking beside me quietly. He’s looking ahead, not at me.
I can’t help but wonder where Aron is and what he’s doing. I haven’t seen him since morning, since he left. And now, he’s not here either. Makes me a little nervous.
“Could I ask you something?” I begin, my gaze on Kovas.
He looks at me and nods, “Sure, go ahead.”
“Why is he doing this?”
