“These are the documents. Once you sign them, the claim of the pack will be given to us. We’ll decide in the upcoming week of who is going to become the Alpha of the Blackfang pack. And in addition, there’s a clause added as well about any direct attack on the pack without the council’s consent will not be allowed. Cade explains before handing the papers over to Kael who sits there.
He signs them in an instant, not even taking a moment to think. I try not to act surprised, but I am.
My eyes flicker to the woman sitting across me, Selina. He met her only two days ago, alone and now he’s agreeing to the council’s demand.
What happened?
I don’t say anything as I’m only here as a mere audience, a mate to the alpha, but at the same time, I can feel my lips tightening in suspicion.
“Good, Cade nods as he takes the papers and files them before keeping them to the side. “As far as other concerns go, we will address them in the future–”
“When it will be required to do so.” Selina interrupts him.
She did something. I can feel it in my bones. There’s a slight smirk on her lips and she looks confident.
“Well, that’s settled then,” Kael says, looking at the three of them. “Again, I apologize for the delay that had happened due to my recovery. If there’s anything the council requires from me further, please, don’t hesitate.”
He’s not being himself, he’s not acting as I’ve seen before. What the hell happened?
“That will be all for now.”
The two men get up first and then Selina. They have a shake of hands before Marcella steps inside and guides them out. She takes a few moments to do that, and then they are gone.
Kael watches them from the window, waiting till their cars have taken them away. With the signatures and the papers now given to them, they have gotten what they came for and will not bother to return again.
But why?
“Why did you do that?” I ask him, watching him as he watches them.
“Did what?”
“You know what I’m talking about,” My eyes flicker back to the desk and the copies that sit on top of them. “You gave them your claim over the pack. Why? Is it because of her? Did she convince you do it? All of this.” My words rush out before I can contain myself. I don’t like the feeling that has arisen inside me. I’m angry. “Is she that important?”
He turns from the window and looks down at me, where I’m seated. His eyes, still dark, still unreadable,
“I told you before, Rhea, i don’t want her”
“Then why would you bring me back right after you met with her?” I snap out of nowhere.
He leans back on the desk and crosses his arm over his chest in front of me.

“She gave me what I wanted to know. The council was here, and they weren’t leaving until I handed them the claim of the Blackfang pack. They knew of my attack on the Redhollow, and they were going to be on their toes until I did what they
wanted me to do.”
“But-”
“The Redhollow attack is being considered a mere accident. The council won’t be pursuing any matters regarding the attack. he says, interrupting me. “And that was the information I needed from her. She told me if I handed over the claim, they would leave.”
“Just like that?”
“Yes,”
“But you gave up the pack.”
“And that doesn’t matter,” he moves away from the table and comes to lean over me. His hands go on the side of my seat, and he continues, “If I have the claim to the entire north, I won’t be needing a pack in the south.”
My brows furrow, “But you don’t have that…” I trail off, my heart thudding a little.
“I’ve already have four northern pack territories under my possession. Half of north is mine. The other half will become mine in a matter of few months.”
I look into his eyes and there’s only one thing I see.
Madness.
“You’re mad if you think that’s going to work,” I whisper. “You’ll kill all those Alphas? All of their families?”
“If I’ve to.”
“You’ll be defying the council, the law–they won’t let it happen. They won’t let you have claim over the entire north.” He grins, “Who said they’re going to be there when I’m done?”
I lean back but there’s only enough I can go.
“What will you do?”
He moves back to the table and grabs his glass of scotch. “I will kill and destroy anyone that goes against me. Anyone. Whether it is the council, or some Alpha.” He takes a sip, “Or my own mate.”
My lips part but there’s no sound. My breathing quickens and my hands go cold.
“What will you get out of this? Out of all this?”
“Power, strength and everything that is there. I will end the rule of the Alphas and I’ll rule the north myself, with no council, and no interference.”
I feel sick to my stomach, hearing all this.
“You will cause chaos. You will cause deaths and you will be hated. No one will support you.” My words come out fast.
He places his glass down and comes to me, and he kneels in front of me, taking my hands into his.
“And you? Will you hate me? Support me?”
I take my hand back from him, and stand up, pushing the chair away from him. I need the distance.

Chapter 101
“You’re mad.”
He chuckles and stands up himself, towering over my smaller form.
“So be it,” He whispers against my check, making me turn my face to him. His eyes are fixed on my mouth. “But that’s who I’m and what I’ve been born to do. Aron has always been a little slow to realize this, but I know who I am and together, I’ll make us stronger than before. We’ll be stronger and more powerful. And you will be right beside me, Rhea. As my mate”
He leans closer and touches his lips against mine.
“Because there’s no way out for you.” he breathes, and I can’t stop him when he kisses me, I’m frozen to the spot.
