Chapter 119 Broken Bond
Aron
Something is wrong. The moment it happens, I feel it. Like a needle through my heart. I feel it Like something deep. something primal and powerful has been snatched froth my grasp, and I can’t breathe, I can’t think.
The bond breaks
1 know instantly when the feeling vanishes, when her emotions aren’t connected with mine and I’m not aware of her whereabouts. She was in my grasp only seconds ago, I could feel her, she was frightened
But now, I only feel cold and hollow.

1 stagger, my knees nearly giving out, my breath ripping from my throat. The wolves around me stop moving, turning toward me as they see me.
“Alpha?” Liam’s voice barely reaches through the agony that’s growing inside my chest.
I can’t speak. I can’t breathe. Because something is missing. Something is gone. Something that’s mine is gone.
How
“Get me Kovas. Where is he?” I nearly growl as the words manage to reach my throat.
Liam nods, with wide eyes, and starts to make a run to search for Kovas. We’re outside, near the borders, waiting to see if any of the other Greshire wolves try to leave the territory.
The wolves, my men, shift uneasily and watch and wait. I turn away from them and look ahead at the vast land in front of me. It’s empty, dark, and silent. It feels wrong. It feels as if the entire world has lost its color.
I grip my chest again, where the ache is growing. My bond with her–Rhea–is gone.
No, not gone, Severed.
A clean cut through the primal part of me. Through my wolf. A bond just doesn’t vanish–not unless someone tore it apart. Not unless she allowed it to be broken.
She wouldn’t. She wouldn’t choose this.
Unless she did.
I squeeze my hands into fists, my claws biting into my palm.
How? Why?
“Aron,” Kovas‘ voice rings in my ear as he comes from the back. I turn and look at him. He’s already looking at me, scanning me like he knows something is wrong. “What happened?”
I wait until Liam begins walking away from us. Only then do I start to speak.
“She went into the room, she found out. She knows…” I trail off, trying to gather my thoughts. “And she broke the bond.”
“What?”
“She’s gone.”

Kovas stills. There’s not much surprise on his face, but his expression does change a litte

“That’s not possible,” he mutters, shaking his head. “Why would she do—how could she do that? She cannot unless she took help from a witch,” he states.
I step closer to him. “Did you talk to her? Did she tell you something? I can’t find out where the is I’ve sent my men, I’ve followed her scent, but it doesn’t go far, only reaches the border, and then I can’t figure out where the went. But at the party, she was looking for you. Did you speak to her?”
Kovas exhales sharply, rubbing a hand over his face. “She did come to me
“And
He hesitates for a moment. “And that’s all. We spoke about the celebration. Nothing more.
I don’t believe him.
The way Kovas exhales, the way his fingers twitch at his sides–he’s holding something back. My wolf is restless, pacing beneath my flesh, furious and aching all at once. I want to release it, release him, but it’s hard to do it this time
It’s a struggle.
But I know one thing that’s going to trigger him straight to the surface, straight to take control of everything. Because there’s no way I’m losing Rhea. She can sever the bond as much as she wants, but I’m not letting her go. She is mine, and I made sure of that many years ago.
I’ll find her. I’ll take her, and I’ll keep her.
“Aron?” Kovas says my name.
I look up at him through my dark lashes. “We’ll attack the Greshire tonight—”
“No,” he immediately snaps. “That’s too dangerous. We just got attacked by them! The house was set on fire by one of their men, and we’re not in a situation to attack right now. Our men aren’t ready, and we don’t have the strength right now to attack such a great pack.”
I bare my teeth at him.
A low growl escapes my throat at the way he responds to me. Kovas doesn’t flinch, but I see it–the slight tension on his face.
“We’re attacking,” I say.
“We can’t,” he repeats. “We don’t have the numbers. They do. You’re not thinking straight-”
“We will use whatever we can. We’re going to attack the Greshire wolves and bring them to their knees. And after that, I’m going to go look for Rhea.”
“Aron, don’t,” he warns me.
“I don’t care. I want blood, and I’ll start with the blood of the Greshire wolves that attacked my pack tonight and set my fucking house on fire.” My voice comes out deeper, darker. It doesn’t even sound like me.
It’s me–but it’s not me at the same time.
Kovas must’ve realized it, must have picked it up from the way my body is shifting. He’s still standing close to me, still looking straight at me.
“You can’t go through with this. This will be the downfall of your entire pack. I know you’re furious because Rhea is gone, but finding her won’t be that difficult. You did it before, you will again. But if you go through with this tonight, there’s no

assurance that you might even come back alive.” Kovas says.
I step closer to him until there is almost no distance between us.

He steps back slightly, and it gives me the chance to place my hand on his shoulder and get close enough to him so I can speak.

“It doesn’t matter,” I tell him. “Finding her will not take me long. As for you–you either stand with me, your Alpha, or you leave.”
Kovas narrows his gaze. “They’re starting to call you the mad alpha.”
I laugh at that word.
Good.
Let them call me whatever the fuck they want. It doesn’t change what’s coming. It doesn’t change me.
“Let them–let them fear me.”
“If it’s true, if Rhea broke the bond, then your wolf will weaken. What do you expect will happen once you’re weak and the Greshire wolves have surrounded you? You’re going to get yourself killed, Aron!” He thrusts the words at me angrily and out of frustration.
“I won’t be weakened. Don’t worry about that,” I pat his shoulders twice and look behind at the wolves. “Get the wolves gathered, any and all of them. We don’t have long.”
