CHAPTER 125 The Council’s Plan
Rhea
The Council Headquarters is nothing like I have ever seen before.
It looks more like a mansion than an actual house, with tall windows, marble stairs, and long halls.

The wolves here move quickly and swiftly, their heads down and voices quiet. They keep their eyes averted when we pass by. But I don’t feel any fear, not even a hint of it, which should be the case when I’m around wolves that are so much stronger than me, and that are capable of doing so much damage. I can’t.
I’m surrounded by a sense of protection and safety, and it all has to do with the fact that Cade is by my side.
I can’t feel the fear that should be here.
Not even the dread of coming here, to the south, back near my old pack, near everything.
After a day of settling down in one of the rooms on the farthest side of the estate, I am asked to come to the council meeting early in the morning. I know why they’ve asked for me, what they want.
Answers. Solutions.
They have questions about Aron and his plans. His actions.
I know the answer to some, but not all. There are things that Aron has never discussed with me, not because we weren’t true mates but simply because I was weak and wouldn’t understand what he was thinking.
“Are you sure it is a good idea for me to be at this council meeting?” I ask, walking by Cade’s side, following him as he leads me to the council hall.
“I’ll be by your side throughout the meeting,” he says. “I wouldn’t have agreed to this otherwise.”
“But why?” I raise my eyebrow, looking at him.
His hand rests on my shoulder, comforting.
“The council believes you might be the solution to stopping him, to putting an end to all that Aron is trying to achieve. They know you have information, more than any other person would. They want to hear from you directly. But you only speak if you want to. If not, that’s fine too.”
I bite down on my lip. The problem is that I want to. I want to help stop him. But what if I do, and what if he finds out? He won’t let me live.
“I’ve already filled them in about how he’s able to have so much strength and the control that he seems to have, about his wolf, and about the dark magic he has been using, which already makes grounds for exile for such a wolf,” he tells me. “And I’ve also spoken to them about your situation, the fact that he has used magic on you and how he twisted fate.”
I go quiet after that. I don’t know what to say or even think, at this point.
He takes me inside the council meeting room, which has an oval shape. The walls are a dark shade of grey, with large windows and paintings on the walls. There are seven other members present in the room, including the Head of the Council, and I feel their gaze on me as I walk further inside.
And then I see someone else who’s familiar.

Selina.
She looks surprised herself as she sits at a table on one side of the room.
I look away from her and at the others.
Cade directs me to sit down, and he does the same, though on the other end. It feels like he’s so far from me.

I look down, swallowing the saliva in my mouth, and then look back up, straight at the Head Council and the other seven.
“Council members,” he says. “This is Rhea Vester from the Black Fang Pack. The reason she is here is that Councilman Cade has informed us of the recent events happening in the northern pack territories. With the last strongest pack, the Greshire Pack, attacked and taken over, the situation has grown even more serious, and it needs our attention.”
Everyone inside the room listens quietly.
“Alpha Aron, or rather, the BloodClaw Pack, has already started expanding and has taken control of many of the other packs as well as their lands. We cannot afford a rogue Alpha with his intentions and powers to rule over the north, to start an uprising, which would lead to bloodshed and war.”
There are whispers across the table.
“We’ve also been brought into light about Aron D’oro’s ability, which has been described to us by Councilman Cade, that his wolf seems to take control of his mind, that his intentions are driven by his wolf side.” The man continues before dropping his gaze on me. “Rhea, you’ve had your fair share of experiences with the Alpha. Tell us how dangerous he is.”
All of the seven and Cade, even Selina, are looking at me, waiting. I don’t want to answer, but I also don’t have a choice. Not if I want to end this. Not if I want Aron to stop.
I glance at Cade, and he nods at me silently, his eyes hard and set.
I inhale and look straight.
“When his wolf is in control,” my words come out slow and hesitant, “Aron isn’t in control. His wolf is. And his wolf isn’t driven by anything. It only has one goal, and that’s power, strength, taking over. He’ll do anything he has to do to get to where he wants, even if that means he’ll go to the extent of hurting anyone who’s in his way. He’s strong, ruthless; he doesn’t care about anything or anyone.”
I don’t talk about Aron–not him exactly, but his wolf.
“And have you seen his wolf? When he’s in control?” Another man that I have no clue about asks me.
“Yes. Many times.”
“And has he tried to hurt you?”
“Not-“I pause and then shake my head. “No.”
“How long have you known about this?”
“Not too long. I tried to help him, Aron, to control his wolf, but I don’t think he can,” I reply and avoid mentioning the witch.
Telling the council that I’ve taken a witch’s help once to bury Kael is going to get me into trouble.
The council looks among themselves, and they don’t really say much. But I know what they’re all thinking. It’s the reason
I’m here.
“Rhea,” the Head Council member speaks up. “If we ask for your assistance on this, would you be willing to help us?”

“Help?” I ask. “How?”
“You know Aron better than any of us. Better than any of the wolves here,” he says, his eyes narrowing a little.
“Perhaps,” I say.

“We are considering killing his other side–his wolf. But before that, we want to give Aron an option. To surrender. To give us the controls of the pack he has claimed as his,” he explains. “But he’ll only consider it if there is a good reason for him to
“Like what?” My heart beats fast.
“You.”
