Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Rhea
He’s alone.
There are no guards. No warriors. No councilmen. Just him. I can’t even process how he managed to find me or get past all those men that are guarding the building, or if the men from the council know about his presence here.
He steps into the room and the door behind closes with a lick that’s far too loud to my ears. He doesn’t move right away, just stands there, watching me. My breaths become short and rapid.
His gaze darkens, and I can see his wolf right there. His presence makes me step back.
He comes toward me, slowly. There’s a predatory gleam in his eyes that sends shivers down my spine.
“What are you doing here?” I ask him, my voice barely above a whisper, laced with a fear I can no longer contain.
“You thought I wouldn’t come for you?”
My fingers twitch, and my wolf is still as I take a step back, trying to keep some distance between us. The very fact that he’s here is making my head spin, because he wasn’t meant to come here. This place was meant to be safe. The Council was meant to keep me safe. They were meant to protect me.
They weren’t supposed to let him reach me.
And yet, here he stands, towering above me. I can smell the anger, the possessiveness rolling off of him in waves.
“Stay back, Kael.” My voice wavers as I try to keep the tremor out of it. “I’m not yours anymore, you can’t touch me.”
“You were mine from the beginning, and you’ll be mine forever, Rhea,” he growls, his voice deep and dangerous. “No fucking bond will change that. I don’t give a shit if I’m not your mate or not anymore, but you are mine. And I could never let you go.”
I shake my head and try to take a few steps back. “I know what you did. Everyone knows what you did. The council knows what you’ve done.” I say, hoping to deter him, to remind him that he’s not untouchable here. That there are consequences for whatever he’s going to do. “They were going to offer you a deal. Peace.”
He scoffs harshly. “Peace? You think I want peace?” He shakes his head, his eyes dark and cold. “The only peace I want is when you are back where you belong, with me.”
“I’m not going with you-”
“I don’t think I’m giving you an option.”
He takes another step, and I stumble back against the wall, trapped. My heart pounds against my ribs so desperately that it feels like it’s just going to stop at one point.
“Please, don’t do this.” I whisper, shaking my head while tears well in my eyes. “I’m not yours. I never was. Don’t do this to me.” My words come out, but there’s no heat or strength in it. There’s only fear and pain.
The back of his hand touches my cheek, and then his knuckles stroke over the side of my face. I flinch, wanting to push his touch away, but he’s already moving. His hand rests against my collar bone and then his finger trails lower and lower until the tip of his finger reaches the top of the fabric of the neckline.
“If not you, then who, Rhea?” He leans forward and his mouth hovers right at my ear, his hot breath hitting the side of my neck. “If not you then who? Who else is mine like you are? No one.” he says. “No other female is going to fill this hunger that I have for you. You’re the only one that has ever made me want, made me crave for more.” he adds, his words harsh and cruel. “You’re the only one I can’t let go of.”

Chapter 129
I whimper, “Please.”
390%
“You’re going to regret the very moment you decided to leave.” He steps back and I look at his face, his eyes. His pupils are so large and dilated that I don’t see the color of his eyes anymore. “Come with me and I’ll make sure that no one gets hurt?
“No-”
I stay on my ground. It can’t be that easy for him to come take me from here. There are people here. Guards. The council is going to know and they’re going to come straight here when they realize that Aron isn’t coming to the temple grounds.
“I’ll kill everyone in here. Everyone. And then, I’ll head down to the Blackfang territory, and I will slaughter your father, your mother, and your brother. Then, I’ll make you come with me if that suits you better?” he threatens. I feel the air leaving my lungs.
“No, please-”
“Or,” He interrupts, grabbing my arm tightly and pulling me close to him. “Come with me quietly.” He orders.
His words seep into my mind, twisting my intentions right then and there. He knows exactly what to say to break me, to force me to comply.
“You wouldn’t,” I whisper, my voice shaking, but I know it’s a lie.
He would. He’s capable of anything.
“Don’t test me, Rhea. Come with me now.”
I close my eyes, tears streaming down my face. I’m trapped. I shouldn’t have ever come here, I shouldn’t have ever agreed with the council to lure Aron here. I should have let them deal with it in their own way rather than getting myself involved. I should’ve stayed away.
“Okay,” I finally say. My chest aches, and my mind feels like it’s going to burst. “I’ll go with you. But you’ve to promise, you’ve to swear that you won’t hurt them. You won’t hurt anyone.”
He stares at me for a long moment before he nods.
“As long as you come with me willingly, no one gets hurt. But if you try to run, if you try to fight me, all bets are off.”
I nod, my heart sinking. I know I’m making a mistake, one I’ve already made not too long ago when he came at my parents home. But this time it’s different, this time, he’s different and the truth that’s revealed between us is a painful one. It can only be worse for me now because of what I know.
