After one glance at the two pots Sophie was pointing to, Annie followed orders. She soon arrived in Benedict’s territory with Sophie. “Benedict!” Sophie shouted outside the closed door and got no response.
Benedict was in his room but refused to see his visitor. Knowing that, Sophie shouted again, “Benedict! Benedict! Open the door! Benedict! It’s me, Sophie! Open the door! Come on!” Sophie’s voice was loud, but nobody answered the door.
Deep down, Sophie cursed Benedict. Right then, an idea struck her, so she shouted, “Benedict, I came to tell you that Dylan is home and that he and Matthew are in trouble.”
Sophie didn’t know which news interested Benedict, but she achieved her goal anyway. After a clatter, the door was pulled open from inside. It was Benedict himself who opened the door.
Recently, Benedict dismissed most of his servants and let a loyal attendant look after him. “When did Dylan come home? What happened to him and Matthew?” he asked.
His gaze at Sophie was cold and not as soft as before. Sophie bit her lower lip and then said sadly, “Benedict, do you hate me that much? I know my problem…”
With his eyebrows knitted, Benedict interrupted Sophie impatiently, “Stop. Didn’t you come to tell me about Dylan and Matthew? Just leave if you know nothing about them. I will figure out the story in my way.”
Speaking, he intended to shut the door. “Wait, I’ll tell you! Don’t close the door!” Sophie blurted out. “Matthew rumed the herbal garden of Eliza during her absence from Hasen City, so she got back at him by tainting our door.
“Irritated, Matthew tried to reason with Eliza, and he got captured together with Dylan. I don’t know what happened during their detention. Matthew almost starved to death when he was carried home.”
If possible, she didn’t mind throwing dirt at Eliza during her narration. She couldn’t because the truth was already known by most people in Duke’s estate.
“You are part of the reason for the damage to Eliza’s herbal garden, aren’t you?” Benedict asked with his eyes fixed on Sophie’s face.
