The orb flickered, then suddenly dove downward. My breath hitched as I stepped closer, drawn to it. It had disappeared into the ground, but the pull was still there, urging me forward.
Just as I was about to take another step, strong hands grabbed me.
A startled gasp escaped my lips as I was yanked backward, My feet left the ground, and I suddenly realized I had been about to step off a cliff.

Panic surged through me, followed quickly by a wave of nausea. I felt lightheaded, the world spinning for a moment as reality crashed down on me.
“Stormi,” Isaiah’s voice was tight with restrained anger. “What the hell were you thinking?”
I swallowed hard, my voice barely a whisper. “I… I don’t know.”
That was the truth. I didn’t know why I had followed the orb, why I hadn’t stopped even when I heard my name being called. It was as if something had taken hold of me, pulling me forward with invisible strings.
Isaiah slowly lowered me to the ground but didn’t let go. He held my face between his hands, forcing me to meet his eyes. “You almost walked off a cliff,” he said, his jaw clenched. “If I hadn’t gotten here in time-
