The next day, before Eliza and Hubert set off, she took some time to speak with Vaughn and Cara.

After they reluctantly accepted, Eliza looked at Cara with a hint of admiration. “Cara, I truly admire your talent and hard work in identifying herbs. If you’re willing, I would love to invite you to Hasen City to help me sell medicine. I have a vast amount of herbs, but I lack someone like you who understands them.”
Cara was taken aback. She hadn’t expected Eliza to praise and recognize her skills so highly.
After a brief moment of joy, Cara sighed and said, “I’m sorry, Serenity. I would rather stay by my father’s side than go to Hasen City.”
Her father was old and needed her, so she couldn’t leave him.
Eliza smiled gently. “I understand. So, before I leave, I want to give you and Vaughn a choice. If you want, I can prepare a‘ Healing Hall‘ for both of you in Hasen City.”
“Vaughn can still practice medicine in his own Healing Hall, and you can not only stay with him but also help me sell my medicine. I have so many herbs, and I’m sure that once you see them, you won’t regret it.”
When Eliza emphasized how many herbs she had, Cara couldn’t help but feel a little tempted.
But after glancing at Vaughn, who was saying a reluctant goodbye to Hubert, Cara ultimately didn’t agree.
Eliza hadn’t expected to persuade her with just a few words, so she said, “It’s fine. You can think it over. If you decide to come, just write to me at the Padilla family in Hasen City. I’ll make sure everything is arranged and send someone to welcome you.”

“Cara, what’s the matter? Did she say something to you?” Vaughn asked.
Cara paused, then shook her head without telling him what had been said. “It’s nothing, Father. Let’s go home.” “Alright, alright. You’ve been working hard these past few days, Cara. I’ll cook lunch for you today, your favorite meat.”

Meanwhile, Healing Hall had returned to its usual peaceful routine.
Eliza’s carriage, escorted by Black Flag soldiers, slowly left Vollult Town.
The entire journey was quiet, with only the sound of hooves and the wheels turning.
Eliza didn’t ride a horse this time. Like Hubert, she sat in a carriage, and the little beggar rode with Hubert.
Using two carriages was a clever tactic to confuse anyone who might be watching, making it harder for them to pinpoint Hubert.
Of course, Eliza knew that she might also be one of the targets.
But for now, at least Korneel didn’t know her true identity.
She was curious to see if the authorities would still dare to act once they discovered who she truly was. If they hesitated, it would only be a personal matter between her and the county lord’s son. But if they still dared to move against her, the forces behind them would be clear.
Eliza sat cross–legged in the carriage, silently reciting calming mantras, deep in thought.
Just as they had been traveling for half the day and entered a narrow gorge, Eliza suddenly opened her eyes.
The next moment, a rain of arrows descended

Luke and Tina appeared almost simultaneously. One jumped onto Lizas carriage roof, and the other onto the other carriage, both moving swiftly to block the arrows.
Despite their efforts, a few arrows managed to slip through and strike the carriage. Thankfully, they hit the body of the carriage, but if the barrage continued, more arrows would likely find their mark.

The attackers on the cliffs clearly intended to keep the pressure up, but their rain of arrows soon stopped, as Eliza’s other agents had already reached the cliffs, neutralizing the archers.
With the arrows stopped, Eliza emerged from the carriage.
“It seems you knew we would be ambushed here,” she said,
As soon as Eliza’s feet touched the ground, she heard a voice from not far away.
Turning, she saw Korneel and his men blocking their way.
“It wasn’t hard to guess,” Eliza replied calmly. After all, if she were in their shoes, she would have chosen this place too. “But the real question is, when did your people manage to sneak past me?” Korneel asked, his eyes glinting with interest. “If I told you they’ve been here all along, would you believe it?” Eliza smiled faintly.
Korneel raised an eyebrow. “If you say it, I’ll believe it.”
Eliza paused for a moment. When she glanced at Korneel, standing 30 feet away, she noticed the intensity of his gaze. It made her feel uncomfortable, and she instinctively frowned.
“But since you’ve already set up your people above, why didn’t you have them kill mine when they first went up? Why leave me with this opportunity to launch a counterattack?”

Eliza said lightly, “Well, of course, it was to draw you out.”
“Draw us out?” Korneel chuckled. “Ah, so it seems the battlefield I set up was actually one you planned all along?”
Eliza said nothing, maintaining her neutral expression.
After Korneel’s laugh, his eyes darkened with a dangerous glint. “But unfortunately for you, your plan might have backfired. After all, the people after you are not just from my side.”
No sooner had he spoken than the sound of galloping hooves echoed from behind them.
With a grin, Korneel said, “I’m sorry, but you’ve been surrounded.”
