Her relationship with Marquis’s estate wasn’t nearly close enough to justify spending a fortune on hiring a sorcerer to save them.
After all, she herself was more than enough.
Sophie didn’t know this, but Adeline, who had witnessed Eliza secretly extract a parasite egg without Sophie noticing, certainly did. That was why a strange, inexplicable expression flickered across her face.

It bit off its own limbs, even its tail, savagely mutilating itself. Eventually, it bit off half its body.
The poison had reached its mouth too, and soon its tongue and teeth rotted away and fell off.

They kept glancing at the beautiful golden butterfly that had returned to Eliza’s hand.
That tiny, harmless–looking butterfly had somehow, without anyone noticing, captured the King Parasite that had tormented their household for over a month, and poisoned it into madness right in front of Sophie.
The chameleon had simply gone mad from poison and devoured itself.
But what they didn’t know was that the butterfly, Vexara, carried far more than just one type of toxin.
Its master had imbued it with more than a dozen powerful poisons. It could precisely manipulate each kind to deal with various enemies.
Even its natural predators couldn’t escape the effects of its powder. Just like this chameleon.
