The mercenary named Cecil was Lucas’s person. Zev once worked undercover beside Lucas, and Cecil almost killed Zev back then, so Patrick still somewhat trusted him.
So much so that after Cecil had switched allegiances several times in Oasisvale, Patrick took him under his wing, having him leave Oasisvale for Abbysia to manage the park with a military–style approach and help him with tasks.
But now, Cecil had secretly returned and even sought Beau’s illegitimate son. It was clear that he was working for the police or the military.
This implied that Cecil was a problem from the start or that someone had bought him off.
Patrick’s expression darkened as he continuously tapped his fingers on the desk.
However, the good thing was that Patrick was intelligent and cautious. He never communicated directly with people like Cecil–it was always Lucas or other trusted individuals handling such matters.
Patrick didn’t know exactly what dirt Cecil might have on him, but since Cecil had targeted Beau’s son, he must be eliminated.
“Send more people to Dante’s side. That Cecil must be handled cleanly,” Patrick said with concern, dialing a trusted subordinate.
This subordinate was Patrick’s most trusted person, always in direct contact and secretly operating within Seaville. Even Patrick’s closest people were unaware of this person’s identity, only knowing that Patrick held the position of boss and this person served as his second–in–command.
And this second–in–command was even more mysterious than Patrick.
Some speculate that this person must have a sensitive identity. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so cautious.
Ken also knew that Patrick must have a second–in–command. Even Wade had investigated Patrick’s personal relationships deeply but found no clues.
Ken even suspected Gary… After all, Gary’s identity was quite sensitive.
But in the end, Ken chose to trust Gary.
In an old street alley.
Zev leaned against the corner, smoking as he waited for Oscar.
Oscar shook off his tail and walked in.
“Back then, two of my colleagues were involved in the mission to capture Beau. Everything about it was classified. Patrick knew about it even before I did. By the time I arrived, they were already dead.” Oscar’s voice was hoarse, his eyes filled with anger and hatred. “Now, I’m investigating my dad. The higher–ups want me to recuse myself–they won’t let me participate in any operations.”
Zev patted Oscar’s shoulder. “Staying out of it might not be a bad thing.”
Oscar reached over and snatched Zev’s cigarette. “If you’re not going to smoke it, why light it?”

Zev paused for a second but said nothing.

Kelly didn’t like the smell of smoke, so after getting together with her, he had quit. But during his five years in Oasisvale, he picked up the habit again. Whenever he felt unsettled, uncertain, or frustrated, he would smoke. That’s why he had lit the cigarette–just to hold it and let it burn out on its own.
“Still no word from Cecil…” Zev rubbed his temples.
Undercover agents who spent years in the field developed a mutual understanding.
He didn’t want anything to happen to Cecil. He just wanted everyone to make it out alive.
“There’s really no news about him,” Oscar admitted. “That’s why I’m here. I suspect the operation was compromised.”
Zev looked at him. “You mean …
”
“There’s a mole–someone close to Patrick.” Oscar frowned, locking eyes with Zev.
Patrick’s people always knew first about any operation, no matter how big or small, if it involved Patrick or Beau. They would arrive before the police, clean up, and leave no trace behind.
Only a handful of top–secret missions had escaped Patrick and Beau’s notice. Those missions had such strict security measures that even Oscar and his team weren’t briefed until they were already en route.
But for routine arrests and investigations? Patrick and Beau always knew in advance.
“Do you have any suspects?” Zev took a deep breath.
Patrick’s people were everywhere.
The Lockhart Group had planted bombs. The Wagner Group had even more hidden within. Even the police weren’t spared.
“I’m certain his mole is within the police force. He only gets intel on joint military–police operations, but he’s unaware of classified military actions. I spent five years undercover in Solmaris, climbed to second–in- command under Lucas, and Patrick never knew. He never communicated with Lucas directly. All dealings- arms sales, weapons trafficking–were handled by his men, Dante and Gio.”
Zev looked at Oscar. “If we want to flush this person out, we have to start from your ranks. Since they can’t access top–secret operations, their position is neither too high nor too low–definitely not a low–level officer, but also not high enough to bypass restrictions.”
Oscar nodded. “I’ll investigate. Patrick has been after the Lockhart Group for a long time. Since he couldn’t acquire it, he wants to destroy it so that the Wagner Group stands alone. Right now, Uncle Gary controls the Wagner Group’s shares. Patrick must be getting desperate–I’m worried he’ll go after Uncle Gary next.”
“He can’t touch Gary just yet,” Zev said after a moment’s thought. Then he added, “If something happens to Cecil, Patrick will realize I’m still alive. When that happens, he’ll go after me and Kelly even more aggressively. I need a favor from you.”
Oscar gave him a concerned look and nodded. “Say it.”
Zev hesitated for a moment before speaking. “Get in touch with Vincent for me. Have him usely as a reason–say he’s helping her lure out a Lockhart Group spy–and take her away from Seaville to somewhere safer for now.”

Oscar was momentarily stunned. He understood exactly what Zev was worried about
If Patrick found out Zev was alive, he would stop at nothing to kill him.
If Zev was still alive, it meant he still possessed the dirt that could bring Patrick down.
And once Patrick lost control, Zev wasn’t confident he could walk away unscathed. If Kelly saw him injured.. she would panic.
She was also pregnant. Zev wasn’t willing to take that risk.
“Let Melody leave with Kelly too. Even though you divorced her, Patrick knows you too well. He knows you wouldn’t just abandon Melody, so he’ll target her as well. And she’s also pregnant….
Oscar nodded firmly.
Getting Kelly and Melody to safety was their priority. Thereafter, it would be their final confrontation with Patrick.
At Patrick’s residence.
Hannah sat on the sofa, humming a tune as she admired her newly purchased jewelry and handbags, beaming with happiness.
Then, Patrick returned. The air around him was oppressive.
Sensing his mood, she immediately fell silent, not daring to make a sound.
Before heading upstairs, Patrick glanced at her. “Call Oscar. Tell him to come home tonight.”
She hesitated. “He’s busy with work. Even if I ask, he won’t come back.”
Patrick’s anger flared. He grabbed a vase from the table and hurled it at her.
The vase struck her forehead directly, shattering on impact. Blood gushed from the wound. Hannah was terrified. In all these years, Patrick had never shown such violent aggression in front of her. She let out a scream, momentarily forgetting the pain as she stared at him in shock.
The maid, alarmed by the commotion, rushed in. Her hands trembled as she pressed a towel to the wound.
Patrick’s voice was cold and steady as he said, “Take her to the hospital. Get the wound treated and return quickly.”
Then, he turned to the butler. “Call Oscar. Tell him his mother fell and hit her head. He must come back tonight.”
After giving his orders, Patrick cast a chilling gaze at Hannah. “If Oscar calls you, you know what to say, don’t you?”
She was too frightened to respond, her throat tightening with fear.
At that moment, as she looked at the man standing before her, an overwhelming dread washed over her-
